I think it's significantly higher than everyone's favorite stretch 4 - Ryan Anderson. If he gets stronger, he should be starting, but won't because of the 2 badasses in front of him. Future front-court of Gobert, Favors, Lyles and Hayward is easily the best young foursome in the league IMO. So glad that "Flex" is finding his rhythm with this team. He could potentially fill a huge role moving forward. Hated the pick, but I've been a fan for awhile now.

I don't think he'll shoot as good as Anderson, but it looks like he'll be able to do a lot of everything else.

Agreed. I knew he was a high BBIQ player when they drafted him, but it looks like the flow of the game comes easy to him. I have no doubt that he's going to get better as his body gets stronger and the game slows down. It's hard to believe he's a 19 year old rookie and it was excruciatingly painful to watch him play early in the season. He's looking like a clutch player late in the season. I think he'll be a solid enough shooter that his all around game will look even that much better. I think he's the stretch 4 everyone's been bitching about the Jazz needing for years.
Quin is one of the top developmental coaches in the NBA. What Lyles, Hood and Neto have done this season is impressive. Looking forward to seeing Dante and Rudy continue to grow into their roles also.
A guess a more laid-back Draymond Green with a bigger bag of offensive tricks?

That would be fantastic TBH. He can play with either Rudy or Derrick. That's a pretty big deal. Most of the bigs that have been advocated around here haven't had that ability. I think he's a great fit. Bright, bright future for him. Wouldn't mind if get took all (or nearly all) of Booker's minutes from here out.
Is he athletic/physical enough though? That could limit his ceiling a bit...

Good point, although I think his shooting is going to be better which will open things for him. Plus he's 19, wow.

Green is an elite defender. Lyles is a defensive liability right now and could very well stay that way.

Comparison wise, I don't think there really is one for Lyles. He's pretty unique.
I think he just needs to grow into his body, he looks a little soft yet, but he's only 20. That will come. Needs to be just average on defense, which I think he can do. He's an amazing offensive player, mainly bc it looks like the game is in slow motion for him. Plus, now that his shot is falling, his pump fake-drive game will work even better...and it already works pretty good.

DL drafted Gobert, Lyles and Hood in the first round and most of us would let them date our significant others. So he is a good drafter? Does that bode well for Exum and how the jazz feel about him?
Yes there is the Burke pick but I don't really blame DL for that one on his own. (even if he should publicly own it)

Ya it makes me feel better about Exum that Snyder is his coach.
Snyder was touted as a great developmental coach when we got him. He has not disappointed

In the one game I went to this year, I left with a very very good impression of Lyles. It was not difficult to see how easily he grasps the flows and nuances of the game and the sets we run.
Since we drafted him I'm complained about the development of his body. That's his biggest limitation right now.

Good post and insights, thanks. I think he will never be the scorer or shooter Anderson is, but may be more well rounded player if he works on defense.
Athletic = yes (DG is not that athletic)
Physical = doubtful, but maybe with A LOT of growth. This is a mental toughness issue. Imagine Booker mental toughness combined with Lyles skills. For that reason I'd like to see Booker back next year so he can rub off on Lyles and others (although in a role with lesser minutes). I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see Lyles back down in the low-blow confrontation. I contrast this with Hayward, whose toughness has certainly improved a lot, but was lacking early in his career (e.g., the wet willy incident)
DG brings a lot of intangibles. The ceiling comparison is not unreasonable, but of course there are a lot of growing pains for Trey before he is even in the same conversation. Fan patience required.
