Lyles ceiling

Athletic = yes (DG is not that athletic)

Physical = doubtful, but maybe with A LOT of growth. This is a mental toughness issue. Imagine Booker mental toughness combined with Lyles skills. For that reason I'd like to see Booker back next year so he can rub off on Lyles and others (although in a role with lesser minutes). I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see Lyles back down in the low-blow confrontation. I contrast this with Hayward, whose toughness has certainly improved a lot, but was lacking early in his career (e.g., the wet willy incident)

DG brings a lot of intangibles. The ceiling comparison is not unreasonable, but of course there are a lot of growing pains for Trey before he is even in the same conversation. Fan patience required.
DG?

edit: Draymond Green

I don't know if I read it here or on some other sight, but Lyles could be our own Detlef Schrempf and if so, I think I would be pretty happy.
I like that comp.
The KVH one is good too.

Thurl Bailey!

Maybe there's some comparison right now to Chandler Parsons when Parsons started breaking out the end of his rookie year in Houston. Lyles has more versatility on the block, but Parsons is faster in the open floor.

Lyles reminded me of Goberts rookie season. Started the season slow then got everyone excited. My comp for him is Tom Chambers meets Juwan Howard.

And, ya know, Parsons isn't a PF.

I don't know who exactly he compares to, but lately it sees like he is able to just take what is there without forcing things. Very cool to have a power forward who can shoot well enough to force close outs, dribble well enough to get by them, hit pull ups and floaters well enough to not get charges, and finish at the rim well enough to punish teams that aren't rotating effectively.

Really has a chance to be very good.

Any naysayers need to take a bite of crow for scorching DL last summer and fall. Lindsey has essentially tomahawked half of the Jazz fanbase with this pick and solidified a very strong drafting record in his time with the Jazz.

I'd like to also add that it was smart of him to not splurge in free agency, as he is slowly turning our bench into a strength looking at Neto Mack Burks Ingles and Lyles who will grow into a nice cheap core off the bench.

DL has quietly built a very sustainable team for the long haul, and yet at least a third of jazzfanz has called for him to be fired. Lmfao!! Idiots!!

Getting Shelvin Mack for an excess 2nd-round pick was pretty savvy. If he could foresee Mack averaging 16/5/8 then hat's off.

It's called baking the cake NAOS. we all sung the praises of this analogy when it was made over the summer. Team goes through some adversity and all of a sudden it's fire DL for not spending money, and fire Quin because his offense is too simple. Lol. Fans?? We were told all along the Jazz were building through the draft. It's a process that has proven to work and thanks to DL who has proven to be a great drafter has one maybe two extra firsts over the next two years.

People like TPP and I Abach I need to shut the hell up, because u haven't got the first clue what the hell is going on.

I think people are starting to see what the Jazz are doing right so it's time for me to sink my teeth into some of the trolls and idiots. Amaizing how a little display from little ol Lyles can give this kind of hope for the future of this team. Even though I've agreed with every single step made even I was perplexed by the Mack trade, and even I've been served crow by the great DL, GM extraordinaire!! DL should win GM of the year for the amaizing job he's done, and all should count their lucky stars the Knicks GM isn't ours.
