Marcus Smart with the 5th pick

For what? Is it really efficient to be that big as a small guard?

Also, i dont know the answer to your question since the only player smarts height that even close to built like him is bledsoe and bledsoe has a small sample size.

It seemed to work out pretty good for smart in the big 12 though, which is a pretty good conference.

I guess we will have to wait and see if being as big and strong as he is will help or hurt him in the nba.

Smarts physique >>>>>>>> hardens physique

C'mon Fishon, fat Smart really needs to improve this physique

Cy never says anything good about any other prospect other than A. Gordon. Yet, never says anything bad about him either. Would take what he says with a grain of salt.

Marcus Smart is 6'3". He's pretty strong - he repped 19 on the bench at 185. His lane agility time was faster than Westbrook, Wall and Paul. A 6'9" wingspan (similar to John Wall's).

I don't like Smart at PG. It wouldn't work well. The question is can be play SG? He can defend the other team's PG or SG. If he went against a freakishly tall SG then that would be interesting to see - above 6'6".

I think Smart is one of the safer picks because you know what you're going to get. I think the comparisons to D-Wade are valid. Wade never shot the three ball very good yet he's an all-star shooting guard.

And as mentioned, Smart is a good defender. Some would argue very good. I'm honestly torn on Marcus Smart at 5. I also like Vonleh.

Am I wrong or did the Jazz make the Western Conference Finals in 2007 with Deron Williams as their point guard and Derek Fisher as their shooting guard?

Our 2nd round matchup was pure luck. I don't see us getting to the WCF without the upset

Yup
Derek fisher has one or two good games and otherwise sucked.

I hated that particular two point guard lineup. (Not saying i hate all 2 pg lineups)

Fair enough, leading us to a 51-31 record and a game 7 win over a very good Rockets team doesn't meant anything..

It's hard to be excited about a guy that was so wildly physically gifted over his competition but didn't really improve between his freshman and sophomore seasons. And whose FG% was kind of pathetic, frankly. And who isn't pass-first.

Hornacek did pretty damn good at just one inch taller, far less athletic, and with bum knees. Of course he had an otherworldly gift that Smart doesn't have with his outside shot, but I don't think that size is that big a deterrent from Smart playing SG.

To be fair, it's just his 3-point shooting keeping his field goal percentage down. Smart was an effective scorer inside, and got to the line a lot (more free throw attempts than 2-point attempts this past season). He also cut down on his turnovers, and scored more.

I'm not a college ball fan, so I have no strong opinion. It seems Smart would be a safer pick than Randle, Vonleh or Gordon though.

I change my mind almost every day. Off the Randle wagon for good, I think, but I can't decide between Vonleh, Smart and Gordon.

Today? It's Smart.

Elite defender, I'm going to kill you attitude, leader, fire for the game, awesome athlete, pg with 6 9'+ wingspan? Wtf.

Avg 3 steals a game? Wow. Plus he's can score around the rim and he's a good ft shooter. Needs to get the outside shot going tho

I think I'm the only guy on this board whose top two at #5 are Randle and Smart. Nobody likes Randle, more like Smart, but preferring both over Gordon, Vonleh, Exum is rough sailing 'round these parts.

So let me get this straight...

Marcus Smart is basically an athletic (good not great) SG with a questionable outside shot but has a gift for getting inside and scoring, correct?

Good thing Alec Burks was traded away last season! Otherwise, we would essentially have a repeat player in Smart and Burks!
