Nash has interest in Utah?

OT: Bledsoe had a better game last night than Paul (didn't watch, purely a boxscore thing).

In 24 minutes; 14pts, 4rbs, 6asts, 1to, 1stl.

Also only had 2 fouls while Paul fouled out. The game was a 2pt win for Memphis, so I doubt it was a 'level of competition' thing. Bledsoe playing better, earlier, than I suspected he would.

I noticed this. It'd be nice to get him.

Bledsoe also blew the game for them at the end by not matching up on his man on defense after they hit a 3 to bring the game within two. His man ran around with the ball for 6 seconds and time ran out. Not that I wouldn't get him for that, just thought it was funny.

Boxscore didn't show that. Thanks for bringing me back.

No one is concerned how old he is, or how bad his defense is? Or the fact that he is not going to grow with the team, just be used for a plug for a couple years?

I like Nash too but there are some concerns. Im not sure we should throw a lot of money at him.

Agree with the last sentence. But I think you may be undervaluing how important he could be in the dev't of the youth.

Ideally, for me, Nash will be mentoring a young PG that will grow with the team. That of course depends on Utah getting the GSTankers pick and picking a PG. Alot of IFs in there but that is what I would like to see.

One thing I feel that was severely missing this year was ball movement. Let Nash teach the core real ball movement for about 2 or 3 years and then sit back and watch these kids dominate.

Dominates might be a strong word, but I hope you see what I am getting at.

And anything at all resembling leadership.

And I don't see Harris being anything but(t) a plug either, so if my stop gap options are Nash or Harris I think you know which way I'd lean on that.

The other issue is how much he would cost, how long and who else (younger) is on the horizon. Even beyond Harris next season, if he expires with us, who is out there to pursue? It's sort of a dry desert as far as PG's are concerned in the future. PKM has talked about the lack of PG's coming up from college (sure, some will pan out that aren't "blue choppers" currently. But there is no clear cut crop in the near future) and the free agent crop the next few years is either guys that will never come here (Paul) or compromises at best (Augustine/Dragic).

So, do you save for 2013 and use that cap space as one of the last pieces in KOC's plan or (if these rumors? are true) do you pursue Nash, get him for 2-3 years, add another piece in 2013 (young, talented kids and Nash would entice some people maybe that wouldn't typically consider Utah?) and see where that gets us? Draft a PG in 13-14?

Just some thoughts.

I want Rondo.

Nash would be great even if we don't have a young PG for him to mentor .. his work with the other guys and his leadership would be invaluable.

Now get Rondo.

And of course he needs a team where he can be "Steve Nash" - hell, fire Corbin and make Nash player/coach

.....BEST IDEA YET! We kill two birds with one stone...AND save money! Actually, 3 birds! One, we get a point guard that actually knows what he's doing. Two, we get a coach who actually knows what he's doing. Three, we save money by combining two paying positions for the price of one! Of course, Nash is going to want more money to be player coach....but money for coaching doesn't count against the cap, does it?

...oh, by the way, we could also offer Nash a coaching job after he retires as part of the package! That's legal, right???
