What's new

Nov 7th SLCC Exibition game feature several Jazz players

My thoughts from the game. Obviously, it's hard to take much from this but this is all we have so far:

Obviously Kanter was a huge letdown. He looked nervous when he was in and got the ball. Got stuffed by Al his first shot that looked clean when I saw it.
I definitely like Burks game. He surprised a lot of people with how well he shot. Although, I'm still not convinced his shot is consistent and I hope he takes it to the rim more than he pulls up when actual games start.
Favors looks BIG and it's really hard not to get excited him.
I want CJ Miles gone. Although before the game he probably had the best windmill dunk I have ever seen.
Can't really say Big Al or Millsap look any different/better from this. Al might be a little more toned.
Evans is ridiculous. It is amazing to watch, I have never seen anybody like him. I know this is a lot to hope for but if he can develop a shot and dribble-drive, he would be an awesome small forward.
Harris looked probably the worst of all Jazz players. Watson looked good. Price is just quick and can get up, nothing new.

Jimmer looked like he was going less than 50% or something.. But honestly the best part of this game for me was actually seeing Stephen Curry. He easily looked like the best player on the court to me. His shot is ridiculously smooth. He was the most involved with everything during timeout and with fans too. Seems like a great player and a great guy.

I agree with everything you said except I'm not down on Harris. He didn't look great but he didn't look bad either. I'm confident he's still the Jazz's best option at point guard. In a league filled with AMAZING point guards, he's still really good.

Can't say enough about Jeremy Evans, Burks, Favors and Curry. Curry was fun to watch and seemed like a really, really cool guy. He was always helping out and very involved. I'm a Curry fan now :)

Kanter was a disappointment, but thats only if you expect him to jump right into NBA basketball. I think its gonna be a tough first year for him, but he has lots of potential. I know it would stink for a #3 pick to go to the D-League, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. Especially since we have Okur back.

Curry seems like the kind of player that would be a huge fan favorite here. His jersey sales would top the team is my guess. He would fit the teams needs very well. Too bad that Golden State is so in love with him. I don't ever actually see him in a Jazz jersey.

This question is for everyone that watched the game or most of the highlights. Who were the top 3 players on the floor last night?

The jury's still out on Kanter. I was disappointed only because he barely played last night. I didn't catch the elbow but I didn't miss the blood. There was a ton of blood all down his white jersey. I think if he'd been able to play he would've shown some stuff to get excited about. Everybody's play got better as time went on. But Kanter isn't super-athletic like Favors or Evans or a lot of those guys last night. But he's a big body and should be offensively productive I think. We'll see. Again, the jury's still out. We haven't had enough evidence to convict him of anything yet.

I was most impressed with Burks and Favors.
Player #3 - I dunno. Evans was fun to watch, and Watson inspires so much confidence in how he runs an offense.

From what I have watched and heard it sounds like the three best players were Curry, then Favors and Burks is a close 3rd. That is very encouraging even if this game meant nothing.

Yeah, at some points in the game they were allowing everyone to show what they could do with an open lane to dunk. Would have been cool to see Kanter dunk ability.

Yep, Burks and Kanter were the main reasons I went to this. I really wanted to see what the rookies could do. Burks looks very composed and smooth.

I find it funny that we have a couple of negative reviews for Kanter based on 6 minutes of play. Millsap and even Curry took a bit to warm up, why would Kanter be any different. I did see a great defensive stand from Kanter against Big Al, and forced a bad shot. Besides that, there's really not much we can take from it.

Let's just hope the lockout ends this week.......

I think Burks has improved his shooting form. It looked a lot more natural than previous highlights I have watched.

@Revolution- when Big Al got the ball, he did good things with it. He had one instance where he threw down an extremely hard dunk. Kind of like the spin move that Favors did on Evans. But Jefferson didn't get the ball as much as Favors.

I left the game thinking Big Al was still the best on the purple team. He's the guy I would go to down the stretch.

I'd say the top 3 were Curry, Big Al, and Burks/Favors. Millsap, Harris, and Big Al didn't get as many touches as the other players, but they still showed they are in charge when they want to be.

Jeremy Evans was a delight. So much fun to watch!!!

Curry and Favors were easily the two best players on the floor last night. Burks was #3. He seems to have everything you need on the offensive end.

Can I get anyone to agree with me on Big Al? When they threw the ball to him in the post he was unstoppable. He could dominate and do whatever he wanted. He just didn't get as many touches as Favors because everyone knew the fans were there to see the young guys.

Big Al looked good to me last night.

I didn't see the game and am looking forward to the responses to your question.

Yeah, he looked good. I just didn't pay much attention to him. I already know he's good and he continues to be so. But last night was about seeing the young guys and dreaming of their potential. Rookies have sky-high ceilings because there isn't anything to go on but our own dreamy projections. Burks can look like Wade 2.0 but no one's gonna think CJ's gonna turn into Ray Allen anymore.

But yeah, I love Big Al. I project he'll be Big Al, which is awesome.
