What's new

Official Announcement! Gameface Poker Resurrection -- Saturday Apr. 23rd @7pm

So by my count (I hope I've got it right) we're at exactly 20 right now.

I'm willing to go to three tables, but would rather hold at 20 until it's clear that there are plenty for three tables. So if interested please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll start a waiting list. If the waiting list goes to six I'll definitely go to three tables. If not I'll just fill in any cancellations from the first 20 with people on the waiting list. If it ends up with a couple on the waiting list I'll just try to squeeze them onto the two tables, but more than likely there will be a last minute cancellation or two and it'll all work out.

What I don't want is to be set up for three tables and then end up with less than 20 people. That's why it is very important to cancel if you're not going to make it, because if you've RSVP'd I hold your spot for the first hour of the tournament, so if there are more than a couple no-call no-shows we'll be spread across three table with just 5-6 people per table, which is lame and a lot more work for me.

I hate to be long winded about all this but I want to reiterate that if you know you'll be late that is fine. Just let me know. That way I know you will actually be there and it's not a problem to hold your seat.

Considering coming out for a playoff game. If we play Friday, the 22nd, I'd maybe go to the game and then your tourney the next night.

That would be awesome.

I think I'm only going to seriously pursue this if it's vs the Dubs or Thunder.

Also, if anyone has interest in going to said game, please let me know. I'd love to go with fellow Jazzfanzers.

How soon will we know the playoff schedule?

I know that I have a serious problem, but I ordered some of these chips today so that I have dedicated "bounty" chips since I've been running an optional bounty for most of the games recently.

They are ceramic chips from Nevada Jacks. I've played in a game with these chips (not the bounty ones, just their regular chips) and they're nice. Not Paulson, Bud Jones, ASM nice, but more than adequate for playing poker.

Sad thing is that I've been itching to buy some cool new playing cards but it seems there hasn't been a lot of innovation for at least five years and I have pretty much every bad *** setup of cards that I want.

There is a possibility that starting in May there will be a new poker league. This isn't going to be something I do by myself. Turns out my manager, who is originally from Brazil and has been in the U.S. (via Mexico) for about a year, is WAY into poker and specifically he loves poker leagues. He has a nice poker table and he actually uses the same poker tournament software I use. He wants to do a 6 month league, one game a month, drop one game. The tournaments will rotate locations between at a minimum my house and his house, maybe one other house.

We still have some details to work out, but he wants to pay for the league winners prize pool upfront and then not take anything out of the monthly buy-ins. He originally wanted it to be $100 up front, but we talked him down to $50. The monthly games would have a buy-in of $20.

Anyway, it's not a done deal but I'm assuming something will happen. He'll be at the game on the 23rd and we'll talk about it more then.

I have a feeling that Siro has been preparing well for the occasion. My goal is to improve from last time's dreadful performance where I was the 2nd to leave the table. But hey I'm still young and developing my poker game (bake the cake).

I actually haven't touched poker in over a month. So, yeah, I'm all hype. :D

I'm down for another league -- the last one was great fun.

This should be good. From what teh other guy was saying I think he just plays the regular games and then divvies the money up based on points. I kind of want to talk him into a championship game.

I'm sure he'll be open to some input at the game. Guy makes my obsession with poker seem trivial.

So there are a few more people I want to invite and I have a couple more people than 20 who have expressed interest, so I think we'll go ahead and allow 28 RSVPs and plan on a third table.

HOWEVER

I don't want to get stuck with 20 players or less and not know if people are going to show up or not and hold up the game or have people spread over three tables when we could fit on two. So, PLEASE let me know if you have a change in plans. Doesn't matter if it's last minute, I'd much prefer to know. But the big thing is this, if it is 7:15 and there are only two tables worth of players who are either present or who have specifically told me they are going to be late then I'm cutting the third table and anyone who shows up later who didn't let me know will unfortunately be out of luck. I sort of hate to do things that way but I want to start the tournament at the designated time and I want to have the right amount of players on the right amount of tables, and I want to be able to play my cards without too many distractions.

So please arrive a little early, like 6:45 give or take a few minutes, or let me know you're running late.

It's gonna be fun!

Remind me again what your firearm policy is. I'm thinking of buying a sling for my brand new AR and throwing that thing around my back. Couple that with my concealed 9mm and I should be safe. Right?

I believe Gameface is a strictly open carry guy.
