I'm hearing that German point guard Dennis Schroeder struggled in his workouts in Milwaukee and Houston. Schroeder, according to team sources, struggled to keep up with the defensive intensity in workouts. He works out again Friday in Utah. Schroeder rode a dominant performance at the Hoop Summit into the top 30, but if he doesn't start playing better, he could be in for an equally significant decline.
********
schroder is the pick @14
I wouldn't be surprised if the Jazz passed on Dennis. I like the kid and I am intrigued with his potential but he is going to struggle big time the first couple of years. He has a lot to take on his first year just culturally. I don't know if Walt is just honest or he was down playing the kid's performance.
I think the chances are that Utah takes someone else at 14 instead of Schroeder going by my gut. It does have a lot to do with who is still on the board. I don't care either way. I am intrigued but not overwhelmed with the kid that if the Jazz pass on him I won't go nuts.
Seriously, though. Doesn't anyone else find it strange that someone has one of the highest vertical leaps in combine history, yet you never see him dunking in any of his highlight reels?
will it be the last time...
If I were the Jazz I'd try my best to trade up to Burke & McCollum.
If nothing works - I think Schroeder at #14 is a good "risk" to take. I mean he has so much upside you've just got to "roll the dice" sometimes. Was Paul George a bit of an unknown when drafted? Yes.
I'd love to know what the Jazz brass really thinks behind all the smoke...

We're looking at the #14 pick here folks, not the #5 pick. We picked Burks at #12 for crying out loud, and he didn't have nearly as much talent/potential as Schroeder.
So let's not be a tight *** about it and just grab him.
My gut feeling is that we're all going to be shocked by whoever the Jazz pick at 14.
