Official Jazz workouts thread

And Aminu? I threw that in. I think he's worth picking up as cheap free agent. He's comparable to a lengthy SF we'd get in the 2nd round.
How many D only 3s do the Jazz need? I'd rather take a chance on a guy who isn't the worst offensive wing player in the league.

I wouldn't mind Aminu on a cheap deal. Not a 3 PT threat, but shot pretty well overall last year and rebounds well for his position.

Go to mysynergysports.com, and look at where he got his offense. While his raw FG% looks fine, he's well below average in every shot type. He's a HUGE liability offensively.

If you're looking for someone to strech the floor he's obviously not your guy. He's a terrible shooter. But he's adjusted his game to score more at the rim (66 FG%), which accounts for his improved FG%. He's a good defender and great rebounder (26% defensive rebounding rate) and he's only 22. And FWIW a lot of his other numbers (assists, steals, TS%, PER. etc.) are trending up. I just think as a bench guy on a cheap deal he's worth a look. Maybe not my first choice but he's on my list. Depends on team needs. If you need a bench guy who plays defense, rebounds, and gets an occasional basket he's worth a look. If you need offense there are better options.

If he's in, Carroll is out. You get marginal improvement in a couple areas and your halfcourt offense takes a hit. I'd rather have Carroll, personally, and I think he'll probably be cheaper.

edit: Where are you getting that 66% number? Also, TS alone doesn't really tell much of the story. Look at his distribution of shots from mysynergy. I'll post some of them (and league averages) later if you'd like. A guy scoring only 0.6 PPP on spot ups is really going to hurt your halfcourt offense IMO (it's the biggest component of halfcourt offense by a fair margin)...that's just ridiculously bad (league average is about 0.98 PPP on spot ups).

Acknowledgement from my peers is worth its weight in gold....

I give you all the props bro, going back and watching some video on all these guys and seeing for the first time Michael Carter-Williams work out video with Mike Muscula and their trainer Jay Hernandez he has this pro hop or jump stop and hop and gets up to the rim which I love out of point guards and when Deron would drive down the lane and throw it down, I just didn't know Michael Carter-Williams had those kind of hops to get above the rim while driving, that was/is impressive enough for me if his shot isn't too broken I might just move up to 9-13 to get him, because in his draftexpress scouting video MCW would do this ridiculous jump pass and get it turned over every time and it happened a lot but the more I think about the time he gets practicing and number one, maturing, MCW won't make those mistakes as much because his length is rare at his position in this league. The passing ability, athleticism, and defense is already there, plus MCW is a winner at the highest level for these young men before they reach the draft unlike Larkin and Schröder. So my new ranking of these point guards and MCW and McCollum are neck and neck...

Trey Burke
Michael Carter-Williams/CJ McCollum
Nate Wolters
Dennis Schröder
Shane Larkin

Yeah, if it's a choice between Aminu and Carroll I'd rather have Carroll too. But Carroll is not a given and Marvin is a question mark. In any case, I'm not really advocating for Aminu, just saying I wouldn't rule him out. I think there's a place for defensive minded guys. I just wish he could shoot.
.
And I'm aware that no one metric tells the whole story. I wasn't really hanging my hat on TS.

As long as CJ McCollum is a Darth, and part of this federation!

LOL.. thanks bro! It's good to see someone else who also believes in the FORCE.

I think it's vital in this draft to draft someone who we sense a strong FORCE in them, otherwise we might be wasting our time.

but what if my feelings in the force are contrary to your feelings in the force. both can not be right. do we draw out our Swartz and duel it out?

Good question.

Only those that are filled with the Force (otherwise known here on earth as the "Holy Spirit") can recognize that the same spirit also exists in another person.

If you would like to be filled with the Holy Spirit, I would highly recommend that you contact your local Alpha Course provider. The link to finding the nearest Alpha Course is below for your convenience. Simply type in your Zip code or city you're in.

Quick question...

To my knowledge MCW has not been in town for a workout, and have not as of yet heard that he is scheduled to work out in Utah? Makes me wonder if the jazz fell in love with him at the draft combine, and don't want other teams to think we like him.

Like the Jazz did with Enes Kanter?

Or MCW doesn't think he'll fall as far as #14........ which to me is a more likely scenario.
