What's new

Official Jazz workouts thread

To me it's starting to look like Shabazz is out of our reach. Both the Kings (7) and Pistons (8) like him. Shabazz may go before both Burke and McCollum.

The knock on Caldwell-Pope is that he doesn't go strong to the rim, but relies too much on the jump shot. But he's the best true SG after McLemore and Oladipo.

Yeah, uh maybe. But I have a hard time believing Detroit passes on the home town hero pg at 8. And I still think there is a very good chance the Suns take McCollum (I said it last week, Chad Ford said it today).

This draft is nuts. Absolutely nuts. There is probably a reasonable scenario where any but 3 or 4 players could fall to 14. I just hope Jazz fans (& Jazzfanz) stay classy on draft night. Welcome the new guy properly, whomever he is.

I've never flinched that Bazz doesn't drop past 7/8. It wouldn't even surprise me, at all, to see #3.

The Pistons could take Burke. It just leaves them with a somewhat small backcourt. Will Bynum off the bench doesn't help that either.

Caldwell-Pope is another guy who could become a factor starting at 8 or 9.

It's absolutely amazing to me how little seperation there is between picks 5-15 in this draft... we're going to be getting a good player at 14.

McCollum: "On the court I try to emulate Allen Iverson... in terms of his ruthlessness and determination to score".

Interesting comparison....

that comment drops him down a little for me

LOL.. yeah I thought that was interesting.

Burke obviously emulate Chris Paul. Schroeder said he emulated Chris Paul as well, but he seems to be settling for Rondo. MCW said he emulates Jason Kidd "In his prime".

Then you have McCollum who mentions Iverson... LOL

Shane Larkin emulates Ty Lawson.

I just watched the video and read a couple of scouting reports on him. I like him as well and would be one of handful of guys I'd be happy with @ 14. Like the fact that he can shoot both off the dribble as well as spot up, tries hard on D, and is explosive in the open court. Only concern is that he needs improve his handles... but am confident he can do that.

I am going to have to positive rep you for this intelligent post.

Agreed, but he has a good size, and as he devotes more time to building core strength this won't be an issue, I believe.

Thought this was appropriate since we're talking about Iverson and the draft:
