What's new

***Official Ping Pong Day Thread - Tuesday - May 20th - 8 PM ET - ESPN***

@DJJazzyJody: Former No. 5 picks in NBA: Barkley, Pippen, Garnett, Ray Allen, Vince Carter, D-Wade, K-Love, Cousins, Richmond, ex-Ute great Danny Vranes.

Some pretty good names....

Lol....

Sooooo....

Gordon, who has zero range and shoots below 50 percent on FTs, a huge PG (who plays the exact position as our draft pick from last year. Obtaining him basically negates last years draft), Randle (who is like Millsap, a guy we gave away a year ago) are people we should get excited over?

I'm sorry, but I just don't see how any of these guys significantly improve us. Yes, nice players if we were a playoff team or almost a playoff team. But we aren't. We are in desperate need of a Kobe, Malone, Duncan, lebron, MJ, etc. we need an alpha dog who can bring this franchise from obscurity.

Bro, you are whining more than a 5 year old on a road trip. We get it that you're upset and want everyone to know it. Wahhhh

@bballSource: #Possibilities RT @JasonShen27: @bballSource what are the chances the cavs draft julius randle and convert him to SF lol

Well, at least with the Cavs going first it will make our pick effectively still the 4th if they screw the pooch again.

We upgrade and package Burke in a trade. Yes, we do need to negate last year's draft eventually. Burke is a short, slow PG who can't shoot. Jazz screwed the pooch by drafting for need. Draft a PF? We need four bigs. I don't see Gobert playing 30+ mins. So choose Randle or Vonleh and let the best man start between the DP and Kanter. AS for Gordon, he can likely be a swing forward. He's already a helluva defender.

Can't believe how many people are upset by the lottery. Had the Jazz been #2 and fell to #5, I could see it. But percentage-wise, the Jazz landed EXACTLY where they should have. And look at it this way: we already got lucky by winning the coin flip. Otherwise the Jazz would be picking #6.

The only positive thing about today is that I get a Jazz draft decal. The downside is that I am now far less excited about the draft than I was before the lottery. It's a very hollow victory.

On the plus side, critics of the lottery have a pretty strong case for the NBA to make immediate changes. Also, the Lakers didn't move up, so there's that. On the down side, as mismanaged as the Cavs have been since LeBron left, they continue to get strongly rewarded.

I'm so irate the Cavs yet again receive the first pick. I grew up 90 miles from Cleveland and it's a pile of crap city.

5th isn't awful - we're in a position to draft a potential all-star.

Could be better, could be worse. I just can't get over how lucky CLE is. That franchise has whiffed on every pick with the exception of Irving. They were the only team dumb enough to think Bennett is a #1 pick.

At least it wasn't LA.

....Cleveland is such a sorry city with more pathetic sports teams than you can shake a stick at.....that even though they have scored the top draft choice in 3 of the last 4 years, they haven't made the playoffs in the pathetic Eastern Conference since Lebron left the team! Can you explain that?

What a ****ty turn of events. The ONLY franchise changing players in this draft will be Parker, Wiggins, and Emblid. Last season was the best (and only) chance of tanking to get a franchise changing player to resurrect Jazz basketball. This next season is when we hire a real head coach, and play to win. Getting a #5 pick not only solidifies us as a mediocre treadmill team at best, but also reflects the complete failure of how to tank. ****

1- all the Jazz talk of competing and trying and refusing to blatantly tank. Lol.
2- after hearing Rigby talk, it wouldn't shock me if the Jazz go after a get with the #5 pick.

This sucks. What a waste of the last two years.

The good news is, unless vets are brought in, starting Gordon, Vonleh, etc makes is worse than this year. Ha ha.

Whoever we draft won't start over our young 5 guys... at least at the beginning of the year.

I would like to know what sort of dirt the cavs have on the nba I mean what the hell man
