OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

I really don't like the argument that we will be losing them for nothing. That's just not true. We are losing them for cap space, and with it the ability to make choices about who is brought in and at what price. If the price of trading them was to give up one or more of our young core, or to take back a contract that will limit us in the off-season, then kudo's for standing pat and not making a move just to make a move.

Cap Space is as valuable as most of the players we could have gotten in return. That's why teams are willing to trade for expiring contracts, and why it is better to keep them than make a bad trade.

There are other expiring contracts.

I know, mind-blowing, right?

I am not that surprise that the Jazz didn't make a major deal. I am not even that upset that the Jazz didn't get Bledsoe. However, if the Jazz did nothing because they want to resign Mo, AJ, Foye and Millsap then I will be DONE with the Jazz. I have been patient long enough (30+ years) waiting for the organization to have the balls to win a championship.

Yes. and beyond rumors, who knows if those were what was being offered. taking back a bad contract or trading one of the young four would have been much worse. That is my point.

GM of the @utahjazz Dennis Lindsey will join @1280Spence & @GordonMonson today at 5pm to respond to deadline decision to make no moves.

Let's hear what he has to say...

There ends the Youth Movement before it even started.

youth movements end when they get old. Last i checked the kids are 20,21,21 and 22.

(Last post til the games start back up, its been real:cool:)

BTW. the emergence of burks renders bledsoe redundant, id suggust directly blaming Alec.

actually... its the coaches fault; for giving burks enough minutes to convince the FO of his worth, damn you Ty:mad:!

This season and last season will be known as complete wastes. We didn't develop our younger players for the sake of being 1st round fodder twice.

@tribjazz: Asked what Paul Millsap has that Derrick Favors doesn't, Corbin said, "He’s been around longer." Huh.

Lmao

I'm guessing that now we'll see more Burks and Kanter and less Sap, Al, Foye and Marvin. Vet showcase is over.

At least we don't have Josh Howard and CJ Miles this year. Huh? Progress, I think.

I figured the Jazz wouldn't make a move. But lets discuss something that could play out of this. What in your minds does this do to the young core in wanting to play here? Come contract time, you better believe that teams and agents will remind these young guys how the Jazz didn't believe in them to be "starter" quality. I fear of the mindset this outcome will put them in.

Looking at the deals that did happen, the biggest names to move JJ Redick and Tobias Harris.

A bunch of whatev deals: Brewer and Maynor for 2nd-round picks, etc.

Disappointed we didn't land Bledsoe, but impossible to be angry without knowing what the Clips demands were. Hope there's leaks to the discussions. I'm very curious.
