Okay I have to say I find this incredibly amusing:

Everyone should know by now that game publishers have been making a push to block the sale of used games, because they don't make any profit from re-sale. And of course, there was talk that the XB1 would do just that. Turns out this is only true in theory.

What Microsoft has now announced is that the decision to block used games will be decided by the publisher on an individual basis. The reason I love this decision, and why I find it so amusing, is that Microsoft has basically refused to be the bad guy in this and passed the buck to the developers themselves, i.e. "People are going to be pissed if we do this. So if you guys really want to block used games sale, do it yourselves and take the backlash yourselves. Toodles!"

I'll be extremely interested to see how this all plays out. I wouldn't be at all surprised if now no company decides to block used games because no developer wants to be singled out as being the bad guy.

Hopefully this will serve as a wake-up call to developers that they may need to make internal changes rather than simply keep charging consumers more and more. I'm betting people will be less likely to pay $60 for a game that they know they can never resell.

I also see the XO (I'm going with it) doing considerably worse due to the online requirement.

SimCity should be an example. That game should not have had an always online requirement, and having one not only jacked their launch weekend (ehm, month and a half) but soured the community to them and gave their critics a banner to wave as the game was falling on its face.

To be fair, you don't have to be online 24/7, you just have to go online once every 24 hours. But let's be honest, a couple of the reasons you have to do that is so they can check up on your activity and update ads... I'm sure everytime you get a new game you'll have to go online just to tie it to your account which will become a hastle in and of itself. I hate Microsoft and refuse to buy/use any of their products.

I don't like ps3's controls.

Me either. I'm used to the xbox controls and like them.

But I will get used to the PS4 controls if this stupid "you have to check in every 24 hours" requirement is there. And it doesn't even affect me, I have internet access. It's the principle of it. If I want to buy a game, take it to a cabin in the middle of nowhere where I just have electricity and play it, that should be my right.

PS4 now requires a paid membership for online play. Just announced at E3. Boo!

At least there's definitely no online authentication thingy. You can play single-player games without ever needing to connect online. Also no used game restrictions.

But man, Sony just couldn't resist the online subscription model.

This better mean that the prices of their expansion packs and stuff are cheaper. The one thing I don't like about PS3 is map packs and things that are $8 on Xbox are 14.99 on PS3. Basically making up for the membership fee of the Xbox really quickly.

PlayStation 4 VS Xbox One
No used games restrictions VS used games restrictions
No online requirements/24 hour check-ins VS check-ins every 24 hours
Both require online subscriptions, PS4 doesn't require subscription to use apps such as Netflix.
8 GB GDDR5 VS 8 GB GDDR3
PS4 CPU > XO CPU
$399 VS $499

Clear winner = PlayStation

Don't bother mentioning that said subscription model is Playstation plus, which everyone and their dog has had for a while now. PS+ gives you free games and they're not crap games either. It's also only amounts to about 5$ a month (10$ less than an xbl gold membership), and it's worth it 10 times over even without Mulitplayer requirement.
