This better mean that the prices of their expansion packs and stuff are cheaper. The one thing I don't like about PS3 is map packs and things that are $8 on Xbox are 14.99 on PS3. Basically making up for the membership fee of the Xbox really quickly.

Really? On which items specifically? I barely play my 360 and don't do a lot of DLC so I wouldn't know.

Don't bother mentioning that said subscription model is Playstation plus, which everyone and their dog has had for a while now. PS+ gives you free games and they're not crap games either. It's also only amounts to about 5$ a month (10$ less than an xbl gold membership), and it's worth it 10 times over even without Mulitplayer requirement.

I have PS+ as well already. It's more about the principle of the thing.

But as Tony already said, at least it looks like you won't need to pay the fee to do stuff like Netflix, just online gaming only. Oh well, nothing to be done in any case.

Interestingly, Sony has not yet announced hard drive space. This makes me think that it will be like Sony did last gen -- different models for different prices, with $399 being the cheapest option. Otherwise why would they not announce that kind of thing? They also didn't say whether the hard drive will be proprietary or can be switched out with a generic one like the PS3's hard drive can be. The way things have been going, I'm guessing it'll be proprietary this time around.

What's the price of ps+ for a full year? Never bought that. XBL for a year is $5/month. I usually buy in year increments because all I do is play online, long before I even play campaign modes.

I believe PS+ will also be $5/month, or $50 for a full year. That's what it is right now, and since they said current subscriptions will carry over, I'm guessing the price will remain the same.

fantastic exclusives for both consoles, though Xone's looked particularly superb... looks like it will be up to personal preference. better performance on the ps4 will prolly make multi-platform games better on it though.

admittedly still up in the air.

Also new: The PlayStation 4 is not region locked while the Xbox One is. Micro$oft has really centered their new console around money and pleasing corporations.

i don't really understand why this is even a issue tbh.

For people in Europe, Australia, and UK, they regularly pay the equivalence of $100+ for video games from retailers there so they order games online from the US. If a system is region locked they wouldn't be able to order games online for a cheaper price.
Also, Japan has games exclusive to that region which people from other countries like to import and wouldn't be able to if the console they own is region locked.
For a lot of people, like you, it probably doesn't make any difference but for many many people it matters.

I do appreciate the lack of region locking even though I have yet to make any use of it. But hey, I can definitely see myself importing the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia if the fan-made English patch is ever completed. I can also see there being other import games I would care about.

BTW, my favorite trailer of E3 so far has got to be this one, for a game called simply "X"... although it's pretty obvious that it's basically a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles.

Between this and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, I'm actually starting to care about the Wii U a bit. They've also announced some new upcoming first-party games, like new Mario Kart and Smash Bros games. All of that might actually be enough for me to pick up a Wii U... although I would wait until they hopefully dropped the price after PS4 and XB1 release.

When I 1st got my PS3 that was one of the things I noticed. Map packs for COD were $8 on XBox and they were $15 on PS3. I don't buy too many of the map packs so to me it was still a savings over the subscription. But I'm sure it was not that way for everybody. Might be why a lot of the hardcore gamers still have Xbox's instead of PS3's.

That game piqued my interest as well, but none of the gaming sites are mentioning it at all. It's really strange. The graphics are stunning for a WiiU game.

Microsoft is overplaying their hand in confidence of having the market share they do have right now in the console world. No way that doesn't dip in the coming years.

That is really strange. I hadn't ever heard of that. I guess I just haven't run into any games myself where that's the case.

It may be due to the fact that there seems to be some massive name confusion with the game. Apparently a lot of people think "Monolith Soft" is the name of the game -- but of course, that's the developer. And of course, the fact is that it's hard to search for something that's just called "X" on a search engine. They should just get it over with and call it Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Better for all concerned that way.

And yeah, it really is very pretty. I am not normally one to care too much about graphics, but in this case it's just that the environments they've made are gorgeous. Lots of really vibrant color and stunning landscapes -- very much a contrast to a lot of these military shooters and such that seem to work primarily with dull browns and grays.

Have announced over 25 different exclusives the last few weeks, some are really quality as well....

Your head must be in the sand though.

Apart from Halo, how many Xbox exclusives are there?

#OneTrickPony

One trick pony is a little naive bro... The problem with the Xbox is that they are overreaching, implementing too many tricks that that one trick they should be focusing on (gaming) isn't getting enough attention.
