Everything is pretty much summed up for all the big timers going places. Everyone will pick pieces from what's left of the agents and call it a summer. So where do YOU grade our off season?

Honestly, the jazz were one of the bottom tier teams. We got Rubio, Donovan (who I think looks great), Bradley, and Goss.

I can't see anyone giving us anything higher than a D+ and that might be pushing it. Even signing some random pieces can salvage what our summer has been. We are definitely worse and I see us being around the mid to lower pack in the West. If gobert gets injured probably near the bottom honestly.

We lost Hayward, a star player and legitimate scorer. We now need to take a step back and reset the roster based around our younger talent.

time will tell if Hayward will live up to that contract and we drafted well. Overall I'm not unhappy.

Idk.
I'm going with meh

Losing Hayward was obviously devastating, but removing that from the equation, I believe DL has had a great off-season thus far.

*He turned a possible bust in Lyles + the #24 pick into a potential impact player, who fits this team perfectly skill + attitude-wise

*He also moved up for Bradley, who seems capable of eventually developing into a productive traditional backup big (although I question whether this is the direction he would've taken had he known Hayward's intentions)

*Obviously the jury is still out on NWG, & while he may not be off to a good start, I believe he showed enough skill/savy in college to justify showing him patience.

*He turned a likely late 1st rd pick into 2 years of one of the best passing/defending PG's in the league in a very reasonable contract...incredible value.

*He also retained a key member of the team (also on a reasonable contract) who should be instrumental during our transition as a team.

*He also allowed Mack to walk (which opens up valuable playing time) while avoiding commiting significant money to Hill, which has the potential to eventually turn into a bit of an albatross.

All in all, DL did everything (as far as I can tell) to give us the highest likelihood to keep Hayward & I'm not sure we can fault him for the fact that it didn't happen (assuming he didn't ignore the writing on the wall).

It would have been interesting to see the difference in approach had he been able to operate under the knowledge that Hayward wasn't returning, but I'm looking forward to seeing what type of approach he elects to go with from here on out.

I'm more excited about the upcoming season than I was for the last one. Sums it up for me.

This off-season was a Pass/Fail grade.

The Jazz get an F with no explanation necessary.

Too bad the jazz weren't in on getting Carroll. I think he'd be worth dumping some salary and taking on for 2 years, especially if they are Willing to throw in a first and second round pick.

As of this moment I'll give it an F. Not any fault of Dennis Lindsey, but losing ****face is a huge blow, for obvious reasons.

Obviously premature to judge. If Mitchell turns into Lillard that obviously changes things.

Great offseason we didnt fill our books with Hayward's midstar level talent. I dont think we should have reigned Ingles at the price. But, it shows that we should never aim our offseason goals to resign a player that isnt worth it. Besides Rudy we didnt and dont have another player that we should appease. A- Over paid for Ingles. Plus, we need to move Johnson and Diaw. Finally, why do we keep drafting pgs?

This board has so many negative Nellie's. I swear half this board just wants us to lose so they can complain.

Definite missed opportunity, especially if we intend to compete while rebuilding as he could've played some 4 & brought similar qualities as Crowder would have + the type of attitude/character we should be surrounding our young talent with. Not to mention, most importantly, the future assets. Unless I'm missing something or DL has something in the works, I'm surprised we didn't jump on this.
