Ric Bucher reporting Jazz have signed Randy Foye to a 1-year deal

Not sure if this has been posted...

Addition of Foye, O'Connor said, continues effort to improve team's perimeter shooting, which was "exposed" vs. Spurs in the playoffs.

And I don't buy Mo is going to be a better PG for us. At least not yet. But we'll see. At least he's been successful in that department, if hardly elite.

My 10 cent psychoanalysis is we've been so starved for shooters that any improvement in that department by any player makes everyone think we improved. My opinion is the guys we got have their deficiencies too, and most importantly I'm not seeing how they fit together. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Good post for the most part. I agree that it's all too easy to simply see the best. But just looking from the perspective of what KOC is trying to do, it sure looks like he wanted to shore up perimeter D and outside shooting. He's made zero effort to acquire a playmaking point. All this points to having the offense being relatively focused around the bigs, and we've been told already that the offense will remain essentially the same. If somebody on JF is calling Mo elite color me informed.

Now, if you are a guy that is vehemently against Jefferson then these moves will look very bad as he is by far our most reliable post scorer and with these moves it looks like I'm wrong again in that AJ will not be moved. In a traditional Stockton/Sloan sense this is not Jazz basketball we are seeing built. I don't have any problem with people resisting this. But it's what is happening. Utah will be putting their chips on dominant post play rather than excellent and precise play from the PG.

Waaaawuuuuuuu. Lookey lookey. Debie downer is not a happy camper.

Jazz were after Foye since the start of free-agency, calling his agent every two days or so. I actually thought as a lot of other people did that Foye was gonna get more money than $2.5 million a year, so I guess the Jazz definitely got a deal.

What I am seeing with the Jazz right now, especially with the moves they have made, is that KOC is looking to stack the deck with shooting, defense, and athleticism. This is taking what the market has to offer. Sure we would like an elite pg that can distribute AND shoot, and we were very fortunate to have one of those in the stable constantly for almost the last 30 years. They don't grow on trees and they don't win championships. Mo and Foye were available, so we pounced. I'm much happier with our PG situation than if we were keeping Harris and hoping Muchado turned into something. Foye can lock people up. Wasn't that the reason that a lot of people were wanting MKG? I'm very excited about the chance to throw a real defender on all those pesky pg's that eat us up. Foye will definitely be a wrench we can throw at the teams that pick and roll us to death, especially as we develop our bigs to deal with the PNR.

Just running practice with the talent that we have will help our youngs improve. I want Burks going against a pesky defender who is familiar with his game every day in practice. If that is too hard, he doesn't deserve 30 min per. Malone and Stockton had to get theirs by unseating very good vets. Spare me the "Burks will get buried!" whining. Dude needs to develop his toolbag just a bit more. You could see that defenders that scouted him were effective in defending him. Same thing happens to Hayward as well. Now they have to scout Marvin too.

I'm very excited right now and I refuse to be depressed that we have a deep team with a lot of flexibility both on the court and financially. We are in a good spot. More people need to step back and enjoy it.

This has the potential to be disaster-ish if Earl Watson is on the team. I don't want Foye competing with Burks for minutes at the 2, and Foye playing the 1 with Earl sitting could lead to trouble.

This. Watson appears to be the odd man out. Hopefully we can trade him to Houston or buy him out. I am starting to think that Al or Millsap is really going to be gone and we are preparing to play small.

Show me a team in the NBA that doesn't have people on the team that are upset about PT? The only teams that is possible on are the top teams where if anyone complains they look like a damn idiot because the team is doing great. If Burks is truly good enough to be as good as we think he is, he will earn the minutes. I know we as Jazz fans have gripes with the whole "veterans over rookies" thing, but the good players usually pan out and start getting minutes.

I like it but then my other personality says that too many solid players is not a good thing. One or two scrappy, great practice players are usually a good thing for a team.

It is not possible for Earl Watson to become a disaster. He could be cut or suffer a career ending injury and have zero effect upon the Jazz's win total. Bench warmers can't rock the boat, no matter how hard they push.

Seems to be an unselfish type guy....what stats can you share with me? Assists per game, shooting percentage, turnovers per game? Inquiring minds want to know!

Actually, we get bigger if Millsap is traded because that opens up 30 mins for Favors at PF.
