What's new

Rubio traded to Jazz

What is wrong? They are not allowed to do the things I posted?

Not really.

They're in a field where they're in the top half percent, but realistically, they'll only be there for a max of 15 years. The majority of people, they don't have that window.

Furthermore, Steph Curry can go out and be very successful after basketball, but he ain't making $40/yr. So no, we don't have the same word doe they do, and they don't have the same window after either.

Can someone with a little time break down our player by player contract situation for both this year and next based on our current roster?

I'm curious where we're at as a team cap-wise now and where we'd be next year with this group. Plug in Hayward at the max for this year and next.

The guy who runs sham sports just came out with a manifesto, after being AWOL for some time. For anyone who hasn't heard of him, let's just say he used to be easily the most reliable source for info on team numbers/cap situation and such. This manifesto is kind of a pain in the *** because of the format, but for anyone who wants to know stuff about the cap situation for the team, I suggest bookmarking his page. If it's not up to date, it will be soon, where as other sources sometimes take months to update changes. Anyway, don't say I never gave you anything.

Anyway, I'm too lazy to try and figure out exact numbers right now, as there's too many unknowns and things that could change. Kind of pointless until we have a better idea of our final roster.

So I've seen a few people bring up John Stockton since the Rubio trade, but there is a different Jazz player I think is a better comparison. I think Ricky will be our modern version of Pistol Pete.

So... Rifle Ricky or Ricky Rifle? Maybe just Rifle Rick?

Yeah, I think I'll go with Rifle Rick. Now I just need a picture of Rifle Rick in a Jazz uni and I'll have my new sig.

I have us at 125ish M with everyone back.

I think it's already been settled: Big Dick Rick

What does Rubio's injury history look like?

- Torn acl in March 2012
- High ankle sprain in November 2014 that reportedly damaged some muscles and ligaments and kept him out of action for a three months.

Those are the only major injuries I see.

It's not just Ricky's vision and passing skills that will encourage us to play faster next year. With improved defense at the point of attack, we should have more margin for error when it comes to setting our half-court defense. (With Hill's injuries last year, his on-ball defense really ticked downward). In other words, Ricky's defense will also encourage us to play faster. Take note.

According to reports George Hill and the Spurs have broken off talks. Who is left to pay him?
When he turned down that extension for fair money Imo I soured on him. What is his deal? He was injured half of last year, and we gave him a good offer. Now it seems like he will take less.

The Rubio move is good on paper, saves money, and adds a starting PG to the team. but, does it make us better than last year? Does it add more wins?
Those are the things I care about.

If I remember correctly he had come off his early injury and was playing well when we gave him the offer. Then he had his late season injuries. But yeah, would have been pretty sweet for all parties if he had just said "Cool, I want to play for the Jazz and this is good money, I'm in!"

Idk man, the more I watch Rubio videos the more I'm thinking he'll be an upgrade from Hill. Call me crazy

Yep. That's what I posted in a different thread. So we're all matching. But it depends on what you plug in for Ingles. And by "everyone" we're excluding Hill, Withey, Mack and Diaw.

Yes. I already removed Diaw.

I have been waiting for somebody to bring up his POA defense. It's something that both him and Donovan Mitchell excel at, and something that I love. Plus, Rubio will actually have a good defensive center behind him, so just imagine how much more aggressive he'll be.

With the trading of Rubio, the trading/drafting of Mitchell, you can really see DL is emphasizing defense, and athleticism. I really think we'll be more up tempo this year, and it's gonna look real good.

I remember several times when certain people on this board were hoping we acquire Rondo. Anyone who wanted Rondo yet isn't happy we traded a non-lottery pick for Rubio needs to just stop now.

I was thought Rondo would be a decent option but I am very excited about Ricky Rubio! I have some reservations about his shooting but I am hoping he will improve his shot and that last season wasnt just typically second half bump in stats in meaningless games.
