Rudy Gobert "Greatest Jazz Center of All Time" Countdown Thread

I have lot's and lot's of love for Eaton. Huge respect.

I don't think it's taking anything away from Eaton to say that Rudy is the best Jazz center of all time at this point.

Please update to: Rudy Gobert "Jersey hanging in the Delta Center and Hall of Famer" Countdown Thread

He's got a lot of years that we will enjoy watching him as a Jazzman before he needs to hang up his jersey, but you can guarantee it will hang from the rafters. Rudy+Hayward is historic.

Rudy needs to be able to hit that 15 footer when he does the little peel on the PNR, and he needs to learn a consistent baby hook after taking contact. If he had those two things he could take advantage of any mismatches, and the defense couldn't cheat off of him so much.

Today I found out that Gobert led the league in net rating this year at +30. 129 ORTG and 99 DRTG. He was #1 in ORTG and I think tied for first for DRTG.

He was the first player to ever rank within the top 3 in both. He is a superstar.

Also top 3 for both offensive win shares and defensive win shares. One only a few players to get 1000 points 1000 rebounds and 200 blocks in a season and probably many more acheivements. He is amazing.

COme on, if he had those things he would be our modern Hakeem or DRob on O : getting a close to 30%usg and scoring 25/30ppg...

I always though Andrei's D was overrated after his first couple years because he would give up so much on the perimeter and not able to stay in front of his man. It'd be interesting to see him with Gobert who could negate any of those weaknesses.

Ok, so is it over? He's clinched this, right? Should this thread be locked?

If he keeps playing like he is he will pass Eaton for sure, but it's not the runaway that some people think. Gobert has 57% of the points, 52% of the blocks, 43% of the rebounds, 42% of the assists and 21% of the blocks in 35% of the games.

Eaton plugged up the middle like nobody else in the history of the NBA, Gobert included. Of course, the rules were in Eaton's favor.

In my opinion Eaton is still 1, Memo is still 2. But Rudy passing both is just a matter of time and longevity. Eaton played 11 seasons for the Jazz, Memo a little over 6. Rudy is finishing his 5th. If he plays at his current level (or better) for the rest of his current contract he's going to pass Memo and likely big Mark too.
