Shelvin Mack Option Picked Up

And I think he will be gone. Traded or cut/bought out.

A possibility, but I just dont see it. The 2 guys they cut in the past where Bell (was fighting with coach) and Grant Jerret (was going to miss entire season with shoulder surgery prior to being cut).

Was it just me or was Neto a massive liability last season?

The guy is not an NBA PG, yet.

Mack put up a few near triple dubs. This convo is wack to the max. Boners.

I kind of want to free up two roster spots for flier guys on Neto type contracts... If those guys become rotation players in a couple years it's a huge benefit to the way we can allocate our cap space.

Neto passes better the ball and has a better ball-handling skills. He is a pure point guard.

Some of you forget that he was a rookie last season and he exceeded the expectations.

Yet somehow Mack got a lot more assist in the same offense.

I think Mack's higher number of assists can be explained by the much greater leeway that he seemed to have within the offense. Neto, after all, was just a rookie. The biggest knock on him was that he couldn't shoot but he did it much better than anyone could reasonably expect. I am from Brazil and I wasn't particularly excited, as a Jazz fan, when the team signed Neto, but now you can count me on his bandwagon. He seems to be one of the last remaining pass-first point guards in the league - something which any Jazz fan can appreciate - and I think he should be given a vote of confidence. The only reason to keep Mack around at this conjuncture is the fact that he is Hayward's buddy, IMO.

Neto played well for us last year. Given that he was a rookie I don't want to dump him so quickly.

Mack put up numbers but we didn't make the playoffs in the end. I like the team chemistry with Neto.

Plus he makes it easier for my wife to watch the games.

Don't think this is Neto vs Mack... it's 'decent back-up PG @ 2.4M' vs questionable late 2nd Round draft picks.

Roster:
Hill/Hood/Hayward/Favors/Gobert (FGH3)
Exum/Burks/JJ/Lyles/Diaw
And:
Neto/Mack/Ingles/Withey/Pließ - for now... can trade any of these (and Burks et al) at any time. C.Johnson gone...

Mack has much more value than any of the very late draft picks. Even if we loose one or two of them by assigning them to D-League, Mack has more value on the court or in the 'trade bank', as does Neto

BTW, think that's same reason we gave up Hanlan vs. a future 2nd Round pick...
know we can't keep them all right now, and rather loose something we're likely to loose anyway, vs. a future asset

Even as backups, Mack and Withey are in contract years heading into what will be the craziest free agency ever. If they keep their heads down and just keep grinding, they'll get their minutes and hopefully get paid next year (like Booker did this year.)
