SLC Dunk - Utah Jazz vs Toronto Raptors: The Overtone

I, for one, would love to see a 46 minute report of this one. Forget the last two minutes.

Feels like Toronto has a lot of points of TO's. I think if we take care of the ball we have a chance to win. Got to think Lowry is going to come out in the 2nd half motivated to get buckets.

Those refs were complete ***... if they officiated Hayward like they did Lowry or derozan he shoots like 15 free throws.

Good game by our guys... I wish Quin would friggin lose his **** on the refs just once... it would be really effective because the guy literally never gets technicals... they'd have to think it was because they sucked.

4 turnovers vs 18 turnovers. There is the reason we lost. And no G.Hill. He used to give Lowry a lot of trouble.

The problem with this would be that a foul in basketball is so subjective, so when doing a report they can easily look at any soft call and say, "well technically he did touch him with his fingernail and the sun was on his eyes so the correct call was made". But on the other end, when someone gets hammered, they'll just say no, physical play, that's fine.

The sequence at the end perfectly illustrated how this game was called... Ingles and Lowry make contact with each other chasing a loose ball... foul on Ingles... Gobert gets a rebound and has two hands on the ball... guys slap the eff out of his arms... good physical basketball play on.

Part of Quine job is yelling at the refs... he needs to do better

I hear this complaint a lot around here - that Quin needs to yell at the refs more. Does that actually work? Like is there any correlation between coaches getting technicals called on them and the number of bad calls against their team subsequently?

At some point refs have to stop calling this ******** on Exum... I'm convinced part of the reason he's not as effective is they are just calling fouls on him when for minuscule contact and not giving him anything when he gets in good position. I feel like they all got in a room and tried to find the most random innocent person to randomly be a dick too.

Rudy might get fined. On the refs, said the Raptors were allowed to do a lot of things that the Jazz weren't.

I coach... one time the ref made a call and it was just wrong... he knew it and when I asked for an explanation he said what do you want me to do... the other guy is screaming at me.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease but you can go too far with it for sure. It is tough to watch Hayward get literally wrapped up off ball on every god damned possession. You get on the ref point it out and even get a little indignant about it... clearly the nice guy route is not working.

Aside from the refs, I didn't like Quin's rotation tonight. He should've given Burks some burn at the beginning of the 4th. And too much Joe Johnson. Yes, he was hitting those shots but he stagnated the offense and the Jazz couldn't get anything once he was out of the game because they had lost their rhythm. He should've tried Dante in the 4th on Lowry. He already tried Mack and it didn't work. We have to find some better defenders at crunch time because Mack and Jingles won't cut it if we are to go any place in the playoffs -- well we do have one who is hurt, Hill. And I think we need to make Dante that other lockdown perimeter defender because he has the potential to be one.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the Jazz may be considering to trade Burks because that's what usually happens when a player is healthy and they don't play him, especially one who was a rotation player in the past. I don't know what Quin is thinking, but we could've used Burks both of the last two games.

Burks was getting blown by pretty easily on defense, it didn't hurt us too much while he was out there, but it's gonna take a while for him to get back up to speed. Was great to see him score some points though, that must have felt good.

You tell them Rudy!!!

Rudy Gobert: "They're allowed to do things that we're not allowed to do, which makes it tough to play. We know we're the Utah Jazz."

JV basically just shoved him in the back all night. Legitimately could have fouled out in the first half.

On some of Haywards drives they have two hands extended on him the whole time... no call. They were awful tonight and it was a totally winnable game for us.

The mack drive and no call was a killer... you at least have to call that out of bounds off of the raptors. He should have passed it but he basically got tackled... if they didn't touch the ball it's a foul and vice versa.
