Jazz small forward C.J. Miles is backing up his words.

Miles entered the offseason by declaring that this was the most important summer of his career. The Jazz picked up Miles' $3.7 million team option June 29, and the sixth-year player has responded by significantly slimming down through constant workouts.

Miles, 24, averaged career highs last year in points (12.8), rebounds (3.3) and minutes (25.2). His production dropped off during April, though, as he struggled with his shot and place on the team under first-year head coach Tyrone Corbin.

The 6-foot-6 Miles played with a recorded weight of 232 pounds last season. However, he appears to have lost a considerable amount of weight as he enters what could be his final year under contract with the Jazz. Miles has spent part of his summer running the court with Utah forward Paul Millsap and former Jazz guard Ronnie Price.

Slimming down? Potentially thinking of playing more of a SG role next season, with Hayward playing at SF? Any conclusions us fans come come to this?

This isn't intriguing at all.

Look, I know you're young. It might be exciting the first couple times you see a story like this. But after a couple of offseasons, you learn that if all of this advertised offseason seriousness was real/paid significant dividends, every team would have three Michael Jordans. The players that these stories are written about every year get that attention because everyone - including themselves - know they haven't been doing things right.

Maybe Miles has a John Salmons trajectory, or maybe he has a... well... some guy that no one remembers trajectory.

I think it's a good idea. Miles bulking up to SF size never really made sense to me. He is better off being as quick as possible.

Sorry for the brain-fart there boys, edited as quickly as I could.

Its not really a question of his seriousness, CJ Miles HAS lost weight. To me the interesting aspect of this article isnt the fact of how "dedicated" CJ Miles has become, its the fact that I'm assuming the coaching staff has instructed him to utilize his body for playing SG this season; I always figured hed be playing at small forward more, given our somewhat meager players that can play at the decision. Maybe it means we sign Kirilenko, maybe it means we go after an SF in the market. Hayward and Sap alone cant handle the SF duties throughout the course of the game. I mean we have Hayward, Bell, Harris Burks and now Miles that will see minutes at SG, as opposed to only Millsap and Hayward being able to play the 3 unless we sign another player. Catch my drift? My lack of age doesnt equate to me being hopelessly naive

Thats what I figured, plus his lack of height and agility didn't really make him practical in defending a lot of opposing SFs last season. Him at SG just really makes our SF situation a bit more of a pickle.

From CJ Miles' twitter (@CJMiles34):
In case y'all for got #LAST is official and we throwing the biggest party of the summer tomorrow night at club ONE .. CELEBRATING LIFE!!!

Good news. He is seriously celebrating life...

I know, I know it doesn't mean that he is not serious about his basketball career. Just sayin'

the most intriguing CJ miles news was that he worked out with Deron Williams, Wes, and Sap today in SLC....

BTW, someone's gotta get Miles to show up in Trout's hospital room to visit him. That would be the quickest conversion in fan history.

He looks a little more fit to me but his body language still sucks which is enough for me to warrant trading his *** before the deadline...whenever we have our next season.

I saw cj at golds gym about 4 days ago walking in and he looked quite thin, possibly too thin. His hair is also long. Burks is who I'm excited for, I've seen cj.
