What's new

Stephen A Smith & Jalen Rose - Mitchell is ROY

It sounds like you misinterpreted what I was claiming. I claimed he did nothing in the last 2 minutes of that game and that this season he disappears in the 4th. Those last 2 minutes he shrunk and almost cost his team the game. That is a common theme with him in the 4th. Maybe he helped his team keep it close until then, but that was never my argument.
I never misinterpreted it. The conversation transitioned when I replied to your "last two minutes comment" with what did you do the prior 46 minutes to help his team win?

Either way, at this point, it's silly to keep going on and on about it.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but I think his argument was based on the last 2 minutes rather than the 4th quarter.

Also, utahjazzz is a guaranteed 100% bonafied troll.

I asked him what Simmons did the other 46 minutes of the game to keep it close in which he responded
Some decent stuff. But again, he shrinks in the 4th.
That's what got me going because I thought Simmons played a hell of a lot better than "decent" last night and certainly didn't disappear in the fourth.

I took that as “ya he did some good stuff in the 4th quarter of that game but he typically plays worse in the 4th quarters of most games than the other quarters”. That seemed to me to be the overall point he was making.

You're better at translating than I am then.
Aren't you the reading comprehension guy? It was right there over and over. No translation needed. At some point you're going to come around on Donovan can't jump off of one foot Mitchell. It may not be before the ROY race is over. It may not even be before future MVP races are over. But at some point you will. I have hope that you will anyway.

No, you guessed they would be the 2 best players in the NBA within 5 years.

You guessed Simmons would be top 5 this year already.

This year Embiid > Simmons.

I think most GMs would gamble on Embiid and his health over Simmons. Embiid is already an elite player, not potential. Although Embiid also has potential to be more.

Although... I guess this is just a statement from you that is not a homer statement and I should not take literally.

I understand this. But what improvement does Embiid have left? He is a defensive stud and seems to have rounded off his offensive game.

I guess with consisten games under his belt his impact may be enhanced. He is an impressive player.

Then he shouldn't be in the league... it's human only.

Thats discrimination bro.

We live in a PC world where a 110kg man can compete in a physical sport against females. A post Bruce Genner world. Alien/human, man/woman nothing is sacred.

Nah, also they should even make it that if you can't hit a 3 pointer you're not allowed to win it.

It's only fair.

Blake Griffin won as a "red-shirt" rookie, didn't he?
I don't think it's unfair to include players who have been injured and are thus included in the next year's rookie category. If anything, while true rookies were playing in college, these others were rehabbing injuries and missing playing time.

Simmons is a great player. To argue he is undeserving because he's not the best player on the team is insane. As a Jazz fan, one could argue Donovan is helped by having other shooters and a tremendous screen setter in Gobert. Both are sometimes very inconsistent; that's what being a rookie is all about. Either choice for ROY will be great. And either choice will leave a very deserving player out in the cold.

Yeah, I think redshirt rookies are okay too. If not, what about guys like Royce, who're also a couple of years out of college?
