Stupid Pet Peeves

How does that work? I don't use facebook.
Like using a message board to tell (usually bragging) about stuff in their life constantly. Every now and then? Sure, make a big deal. But some people's lives are pretty wrapped up in message boards. Maybe not a pet peeve more something that is just weird.

That Wal-Mart always puts their most special employees on the express lanes. Bitch took a solid 3 minutes figuring out how to give me $65.48 in change.

Time you will never get back. What was that, 3 posts from your post count?

Right!

I'm going to spend the next few hours carefully crafting a letter expressing my disappointment.

The time really wasn't the issue. It's professionalism. go into a Harmon's and use their express lane. Those mofos are on point, taking the grocery game wicked serious. That's professionalism.

This lady didn't acknowledge me until she had tried to scan my bag of whole bean millstone coffee several times. I poured the coffee in the bag from the bulk dispenser and there wasn't a UPC. I explained it to her, she didn't acknowledge my explanation, set the bag to the side and called a manager. He walks up a few minutes later and she holds the bag up, "It won't scan." He seems a little annoyed with her and grabs the card with codes for produce and bulk items (I told her it was a bulk item). "Oh, it's on there?" He says yeah and walks away. She takes several minutes staring at the cash drawer and then at her monitor before you could see the light go off and she figured out that she needed 3 $20s and a five. She hands me the change without looking at me. I'm picking up my stuff from the dumb carousel of bags they use and she's scanning the next person's stuff without acknowledging them. I tell her "Thank you. Have a nice day" and she responds "Uh, yeah, have a nice day."

She is bad at her job. I don't care about my three minute (lie, I totally care) but she lacked professionalism. It's a stupid pet peeve of mine.

People who bump threads nearly a month after the last post was made. Let the threads DIE!

This is one of my favorite threads. I'm so damn chock full of stupid pet peeves (I should probably go watch the "this is water" video again). Everytime I start having a pet peeve attack I think of this thread and come here to post in it. Trust me, my wife is well past wanting to hear about this **** anymore.

You guys might just keep me sane yet, but the odds are still not good.

I'm just teasing... but while we're on the topic... this bothers me---> people that push other people's buttons for no reason. They are jerks.

People that mock something consistently and in the rudest way possible, then claim they don't "hate" that thing.
Yea, they bother me.

When I was in high school, I worked at a movie theater. I had to deal with people constantly, and stupid people frequently. But I always made a point of being as professional as I could, even as a lowly ticket-taker/floor-sweeper in a vest and a bow tie. Respectful of other people, even when they were being retarded. Really, I didn't even think about it, that's just the way you did it. It seems that mentality is basically dead.

It's like nobody cares enough to do their best.

Except Chik-Fil-A. I've never been disappointed with their service.

Server: How many would you like?
Me: A couple.
Server: Sooooooooooooooooooo, two or three?
Me: Yes.
Server: Which one?
Me: A couple.

Also, if I ask for a few it means how ever many you decide to scoop up between three and eight or so. I don't know the exact number of pickle slices that's perfect so just throw a few on that Subway sammich and let us get on with it.

That's another place that takes what they do crazy serious. My son and I walked over to Jordan Landing the other day on a Sunday and after we went to Game Stop we went to Noodles and Co. right next door. We stood at the register and one guy directly behind the register at a cooking station glances up at us then back to his work. A guy that was cleaning the dining area walked past us back behind the counter. Two ladies were standing back in the corner having a conversation. Eventually one of the ladies looks up and says hello to us. Then she tells the girl she talking to we need to be helped. That girl isn't ready to go so she has to walk to the back and do something first. My son and I were at the door when she got to the register and said she could help us. I told her we were good. Right next door to that is a chick-fil-a. Walk in, an employee on the floor acknowledges us. Two people are in line in front of us. Immediately a manager jumps on another register and takes our order (the other person moved up in the same line, I didn't jump anyone) profusely apologizing for the wait. He points out the number on the receipt but just a couple minutes later he brings us our food. Total manners, total professional. In the end it's a crap job I bet and all you're doing is feeding grumpy people chicken sandwiches all day. But here was an entire restaurant full of employees doing it right. It can be done!

I've never been to a Chik-Fil-A.

They weren't around in the midwest (or at least not in the Chicago area) for the longest time, and something about the name has always bothered me. I keep trying to figure out how it makes sense.

that's another peeve of mine, stupid business names.
