What's new

The 800lb gorilla

Plan B?

It pisses me off when fans boo him still. I has shown himself humble for many years now. He knows he made a mistake and you can tell he regrets it every day.

Thanks for both of those posts. Very good to hear stuff like that. How can anyone not love george hill right now? (i dont think there are any jazz fanz that dont love him currently btw. Kind of a rehtorical question)

Not even if it turns out there's a Rodney Hood or Rudy Gobert, or even Kahwi Leonard type steal that they turned a blind eye on in exchange for a 1 year rental just so they can make the playoffs and lose?
If you can provide definitive proof the Jazz would have drafted that player.

Thats all warm and fuzzy but what is the cost though?? At his current production the baseline for his salary is probably in the $15,000,000 range..

Which means not only will his addition cost a lottery pick but it will likely cost us the chance to resign one of our youngins..

It also means that if Hayward resigns at 26mil per season, 15 for hill puts the roster way over 100mil / into the luxury tax and the next summer trying with Favors being a UFA and Hood and Exum being restricted they could run the salary up to easily the highest in the league..

Which also means that teams may be weary to trade much to the Jazz knowing that eventually they'll be forced to make salary cuts..

Well what if a meteor hits us? What if the dinosaurs come back.

That's all this is. A "what if" game.

That even ignores the fact that if I win a million dollars but lose out on 10 million I am still a winner. We got Hill and can see the learning right in front of our eyes. Last years team would have lost to the Spurs and Mavs when they closed the gap.

But continue on with all these baseless, factless "what ifs".

Thats the closed minded perspective of a loser. Who's to say at this point there wasn't better opportunities to be seized? You?

You must not really understand the concept of BPA.. It's OBVIOUSLY way too early to call..
I think the closed perspective of a loser is not doing the trade.

If you can't be with the one you love...love the one you're with.

It's certainly paying early dividends, there's still a great deal of risk involved though and if it's just for a 1 year rental in which they don't win a championship it's basically all for naught. Also if they turn a draft pick into a player that they need to pay a truckload of $$ like what this thread is about, the trade isn't as efficient as it initially appears, it's more like a good FA signing at the cost of a lottery pick..

that trade involves a draft pick so it will be years til we can truly tell, I say it's likely that the BPA at that spot will end up a damn good player.

There's also the risk of what if Hill gets hurt..

it was actually YOU who announced what this trade was already. You said it on the day it was announced. 'Asinine' is the word you used to define it. Glad to see you rolling it back.

Endlessly second-guessing draft choices.

Now THAT is asinine.

It's amazing scouts can predict player potential as well as they do. Busts are inevitable.

Was the Jazz trading the 35th pick in the 2014 draft for a 2nd in 2015, with Jordan Clarkson and Nikola Jokic (Jerami Grant and Dwight Powell too) on the board asinine?

lol... your campaigns of distraction are getting funnier, braugh

rolling back on what? - Going for it now, when the Warriors are obviously going to win still seems spastic to me, like dudes going after job security instead of the big picture..

Just like to add that he's been saying this ever since he was first interviewed about the trade. Consistent there, too.

So what type of discount do you think he's going to find acceptable? 30% off market value?? Obviously he deserves a raise.

and who do you let walk in the summer of 2018? Favors Exum or Hood?

Hill seems like a loyal guy. When he was traded to the Pacers (Pop called him on draft day to tell him) he wept. Of course he's got an agent and wants to make money but for a 30-year-old PG he's in an ideal situation here.
