I've been a minor critic of Burks'. But it's time to start him and give him starter minutes. He's been fantastic the last few weeks and he brings more to the table than Jefferson at this point.

I agree Burks should be starting and playing more than RJ. This is a no-brainer for Corbin...therefore it won't ever happen.

remember the time people said Burks wasn't an NBA player....had no special NBA skill, and wouldn't be anything but a fringe bench player?

Yeah me neither.

To be fair, he was playing just awful basketball for a long stretch this year. Recently, he has been tremendous. Starting to get to the point that it doesn't seem like a fluke. I really hope he can keep it up, both Burks and Favors seem to have really had their games elevated with Burke coming back.

So Corbin's brilliant?

Burks is a more versatile player than Jefferson, so he tries to knock two birds with one stone by offering ample floor-spacing by starting Jefferson, as well as having a legitimate scorer in the second unit, so we don't have disastrous scoring droughts while our bench is playing. Look what happened to Portland last season, when they started their five best players, and didn't have anyone to back them up.

How is Portland doing this season?
Still starting all of their best players btw

I would be strongly in favor of a disastrous second unit this year.

Only dumb coaches start their 5 best offensive players.

also, if burks started then corbin still wouldn't be starting his five best offensive players. (kanter is better offensively than favors imo)

Which is why it's a smart coaching decision to not start your five best offensive players if it means that your bench has nothing to work with.
