The Official 2014/15 Tank Watch thread

The Jazz's schedule turns tough in April. We could lose our last 5 games, especially as non-committal as we're looking right now. All we need is to duck a game or two on Brooklyn and Charlotte.

Not to mention the surging DEN. They could also catch up to us if we're not careful.

DL has stacked the deck for the draft.

3 over seas players
8 million in tradable team friendly contracts (Booker, Cotton, Cooley and Johnson)
Millsap, Burke and Ingles
5 1st round picks in the next 3 drafts
Roughly a half dozen 2nd rounders in the next 3 drafts.

Now the Jazz are pushing a top 10 pick pre lotto.

DL is gonna rock this with a trade for his man in the draft and sign a free agent steal.

2015-16 playoffs with the 6th seed.

Book it.

In the end DL will fail to move up in the draft, saying the cost was too high. And we won't be attractive enough to any 2nd-tier FA's. Jazz MIGHT land a player like Booker, a former fringe starter who a team is clearing out so a better player can take his place. And we'll learn Tomic was just using the Jazz for leverage; he'll sign a new multi-year deal with Barcelona. AS for Neto, I'm not sure why they've soured on him. He doesn't even get a shot in summer league. Probably because he'd outplay the other two PG's we have on the roster.

Big moves this summer will be bringing over Pleiss, drafting Oubre, adding Motum and making a run at Brooks to be our backup PG.

If we can get to #9 in the draft, one of Winslow, Johnson, Hezonja and Porzingis is likely to be there. WCS could go top 8.

I think the Jazz either move up in the draft or they make a trade for someone. Then bring over Tomic and sign a back up PG.

The TANK is fully operational....

Derrick Favors will get some treatment on his injured back before a decision is made on his availability. Didn't sound very hopeful, though.

Charlotte beats Atlanta, who was resting its starters. Jazz now in a 3-way tie for 9th in the lotto. The way things have been going, Stanley Johnson could possibly be there at #9.

We might beat OKC tonight, but I don't care. This is one game we've just gotta win.

I know it is Bleacher Report but some interesting things in there. Wanted y'alls opinions.

One thing it mentions is the 8.1 million the Jazz have in tradable contracts (Booker, Millsap, Johnson, Cotton and Cooley). That they could use those in a trade and get back an equal salaried player that a team needs avoid paying. Mentions two names:

Ryan Anderson and Kevin Martin. Thoughts on the two? Especially if it costs the Jazz Millsap and Booker?

Mentions Jameer Nelson as a back up vet PG picked up in free agency.

Then a potential line up of:

Gobert/Tomic
Favors/un-named stretch 4 (Anderson?)
Hayward/Millsap/Ingles
Hood/Burks
Exum/Nelson or Burke

Thoughts?

Edit: Never provided the link! My bad

McGrady, Dirk, Stoudemire, Marion, Andre I., Hayward, Noah, Drummond... It will make you sad to look at the list of players drafted 12th. Historically #9 has been a great pick.
Burks was drafted 12th dick

Slow down cowboy I love me some Alec burks but he's not quite on the level of the other guys listed. The list of players selected 12th compared to the list of players selected 9th is not close. Historically we would want the ninth pick.

Forget history. We'd want the 9th pick to have more options available.

Gotcha... We need sarcasm font. Can't wait for burks next year... Locke mentioned him briefly as a guy you can trust to work hard and play the right way. Think he has a Hayward like jump in production.

Also, there will be no tank thread next year.

If Burks has a Hayward like jump in production then that is HUGE for this Jazz team. That puts that production right where the Jazz are weakest. The back court.

Plus an improving Dante, Gobert and Hood? Jazz are so close to having a legit playoff squad.

LOVE IT!!!!

We are building something good and our key guys are able to play well with others which gives us incredible flexibility. Next year is going to be awesome. Will be a busy offseason as well.
