**** THE OFFICIAL: Why Jazz Fanz should be EXCITED thread ****

I'd be excited with a top 10 pick in 2014 and flipping the hell out with a top 5. I do not need a #1 pick.
Agreed. We don't need a #1 pick, just a good pick that fills our needs. This season is a great opportunity for us to see what we got and more importantly what we need for the future.

That's not what I meant. I mean the draft position of players, specifically Parker. Wiggins is #1 unless he copycats Shaun Livingston. But below that it's wide open and may come down to the flavor/need of a team the way it is right now. They haven't even seen a single minute of college ball. And aside Wiggins all have their pros and cons.

Yeah Parker could drop but my point is that if I am top 10 I would not move up. Especially if I have a pair of hungry, very young players in the post that are averaging 30+ & 20+ (combined).

I can almost guarantee you that Wiggins, Randle, and Parker will be the top 3.

4 - 10 will almost certainly consist of;

Andrew Harrison
Noah Vonleh
Aaron Gordon
Willie Cauley-Stein
Dante Exum
Marcus Smart
Joel Embiid
plus a couple others that will likely slide in.

Point is, we don't know the order, but we know the best players and only a couple surprises will emerge.

I look at some players that are going to be around 10 and there is NO WAY I would trade the #10 and Kanter for anyone but Wiggins.

I'm super happy about how Gobert is progressing... even in just the 2 games he'd played, looks to me like he'll do fine in the defensive Center role next year. He might even outplay Bierdrins 1/2 way through the year and be our solid defensive Center off the bench. '

I hope Gobert and Burke really practice that 1/5 alley hoop.. I think it could be effective & surprise some teams.

Exactly. Maybe the Jazz give up another asset (like the GS pick) to move up a couple of spots (like from 8 to 6) if they're targeting a specific position. But quality bigs are way too hard to get. I guess IF Gobert blows up you could consider moving Kanter...but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I'd rather move Favors then. Gobert can be the traditional pivot ala Tyson Chandler. Keep Kanter as the scoring big man ala Nowitzki type, can shoot it, can drive it. Too quick for Center, too big for PF type threat.

Kanter & Nowitzki is a ridiculously bad comparison.

Bynum to Cavs seems like a done deal... one less team to worry about in next year's draft!!

Sources confirm ESPN report that Andrew Bynum will sign with Cleveland. Cavs' $6M guaranteed was the most Bynum was getting this year.

Al Jefferson on Jazz big men when he signed with Charolette.

"We came to an understanding that they wanted to go with their young bigs and that makes a lot of sense," Jefferson said, referring to the Jazz's young frontcourt duo of Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors. "I think both of them will be superstars in this league. So I couldn't be mad at that."

Jefferson is a class act.

Very classy guy.

The wild card in the standings for me is Dallas. They want to put together a roster that can compete while Dirk is still around, but they're not getting anyone in free agency yet.

Right now Ellis is considering ATL, DAL, and SAC. I'm not sure if I'd prefer him to go to DAL or SAC.

I hope he goes to SAC and makes them better. DAL will be good just because Dirk is there - they've got Calderon & Harris already so they'll be alright.

We need to jump ahead of SAC.

Why should Jazz fanz be excited???

The team who has lost its franchise player, Hall of Fame Coach and Owner in the past 5 years has figured out a way to communicate with the fans, and put an exciting & interesting team together. And while they have learned they cannot manfacture instant fan love and interest, they are talking about growing it, with a coach and a bunch of players that can grow with the community.

I'm excited because I don't know the storylines for the coming season. I don't know who will rise up and be a hero, a leader, a go to guy. I don't know who on any night might explode or who might implode.
