This season will vindicate Ty Corbin

I'm convinced Quin is worth +1.5 wins over Corbin, which can be pretty significant at this level.

However, I am worried how long it will take fans to sour on how hard he is on the players, and start bitching that he's killing free agency for the Jazz the same way Sloan's hard *** allegedly did.

I think Quin has more of an ability to know how to get through to different players and not all emphatic measures to achieve the same end are the same either. And while I'm sure Sloan alienated some free agents, I think the bigger issue was how lame Utah was or at least how lame it was perceived. As the church continues to crumble and secularism continues to bloom and spread through the valley, some of those realities will change and the perceptions will follow.

Yeah, I'm a dick.

I just re-read all of them. His point has pretty consistently been that Ty wasn't nearly as bad as most posters on Jazzfanz think. He's stated that he thinks Quin>Corbin (above), and at the start of the thread agreed with everything freak said in a post that included the FO letting Corbin go. In this thread and many others, he's been happy to engage people on coaching/strategy. Few have reciprocated.

.... except the title of this thread is "This season will vindicate Ty Corbin".

Uhh... no it didn't. In fact the opposite is true.

One more person who has failed to read Franklin's posts in this thread.

Add me to the list. I know the title of the thread and I know the point he tried to make. Whether it's a real opinion or a misadventure in devil's advocacy, the point he tried to argue (and is trying to continue to argue) is ****ing burning wreckage. Group-think is stupid, but to suggest that there's somehow a laurel to be granted for contrarianism strictly because it's contrarianism is half-baked and equally stupid.

Sounds about right to me. With all the improvement, rough start last year, and a team now not intentionally designed to fail, I think if Snyder can push that up to 40 wins then I'll be wrong about Corbin

Has anyone sig'd this?

"Team not intentionally designed to fail"

Yet we have what, 7 rookies on roster?

This tread has been good for one thing, Franklin GVC and Numberica are posters that I dont see enough of on this board any more. When I joined the first incarnation of Jazzfanz way back in the day there was real discussion on this board backed up by fact and real thought out replies. I miss that kind of discussion. The 3 posters above have always brought good thoughts backed up with good facts to support their points. There have been many time that I have disagreed with them but I have always admired the way that they back up what they say.

Youngest roster in the NBA, having played the fewest games together in the NBA, and having the best defense in the NBA for 6 weeks now (via Locke). With Hood being a complete non-factor for one reason or another for most of the season, Burks sitting out most of the season, Trey Burke being mostly sun-baked dog ****, Exum playing alarmingly timid for the vast majority of the season, Enes Kanter being a ****ing baby, and having a bunch of D-Leaguers/scrubs fill out the roster on top of all of that. Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams aren't world-beaters, but as supporting cast players, they're better than Joe Ingles, Elijah Millsap, and the revolving cast of non-NBA players that have spent time in the rotation because they've been short two or three NBA players for pretty much the entire season. What a ridiculous statement.

I'm not sure I belong in that category, but thank you all the same.

You definitely do. I remember those days fondly. Not to say there isn't good discussion anymore, but there used to be a bit more substantive discussion than is typical now.

just got some money from my online book. so came here to respond in my over under thread.

then saw this corbain gem. aah the good ol reliable alfense. there was a time when defense and offense where inferior to the all mighty all in one ALFENSE

I think people like GVC and Numberica (not so much) who defend Franklin have it wrong. He did at first try to make a cogent argument in defense of Corbin, but the more it became evident he was wrong, the more staunchly he defended it. He just couldn't bring himself to admit he was wrong, and despite the overwhelming evidence now, he still won't.

I probably am one of the foremost Corbin haters on the board. Not because I disliked the guy but because of the pathetic way the Jazz played while he was the coach (that's not to say there weren't one after another stupid decisions on his part). The thing that is so refreshing about Quin is his enthusiasm and passion, but it's obvious as well that this guy knows what he is doing.
