What's new

Tony Bradley

Jarron (a 24th pick) had a 10-year career with 0.88 winshares/48 (Basketball Reference), and Ostertag (a 28th pick) had an 11-year career with 1.10 winshares/48. If we get anything similar to this out of Bradley, it will be a major win.

Jarron Collins was not pick 24th. I think he was picked somewhere in the 40's. It might have been the 42th pick. I agree with your point though.

Jarron was good for a player at the end of bench. Similar to Withey, though I think Withey is better than Jarron, who wasn't even close to Withey as a rim protector. The reason Jarron stuck was his high basketball IQ.

I agree that Bradley will be Jarron Collins 2.0. Nothing spectacular but could be a solid bench player that does the dirty work.
I don't think this is an insult...Jarron was in the league for 12 seasons. Scrubs don't stay in the league that long...

Jarron may have lasted longer if it wasn't for the achilles injury.

You're agreeing with no one. No one has a clue what he'll be.

Why does every jazz player have to be compared to another jazz player?

I think Tony has a little more upside than Jarron 2.0. I think his offensive rebounding and touch around the rim will give us boost off the bench, but it might be a year or two. I would have preferred we moved up and got Kuzma and there are other guys there that I would have preferred but Tony looks solid.

Jarron Collins did not have an elite wingspan or standing reach like Bradley. He was just a dude who could take a charge.

Lol. About time for spazz to get some ice cream to the dome again. He's getting off the rails

Yea, that post had a heavy dose of sarcasm. It does not translate well to message boards, when weaving ideas through different threads.

I'm curious if more players in today's NBA have more of an "elite wingspan or standing reach" than was in the NBA at the time Jarron was drafted and was in the NBA. My gut tells me more and more players have more wingspan and standing reach than back then. Comparing the two to each other should also include comparing each to the league average for their time period.

Well that's pretty much impossible to measure (at least to before 2000's) because they didnt keep public databases of that stuff from the combine.

The average height has raised about an inch since the 1960's for the American population btw.

Bradley has more upside than Collins. Collins played four years - Jazz knew what they were getting out of him.

Bradley will be a better rebounder and shot-blocker. Offensively he's raw but due to his amazing fundamentals he's going to do what he does best, will perform his role and won't try and do too much.

We've seen the Duncan comparison but I also liken Bradley to Nick Collison, though Bradley has more upside, IMO.
