Yeah... fans always expect rookies to start and/or get big minutes. It's the shiny new toy syndrome.What if Jordan Clarkson is just taking it easy during training camp, since he played all summer, and Keyonte is considered JC's understudy... I'd find it hard to believe that Clarkson is getting paid $23M to come off the bench behind a rookie. I'd find it easier to believe that the Jazz want to give Keyonte reps during camp, since this is his best chance to get acclimated. Keyonte should be rotational, but I don't think he's the starter until the Jazz trade Clarkson.
But when the season rolls round, it's usually the same old vets starting and getting their 28 minutes. The kid who "blew everyone away" in training camp suddenly finds himself at the end of the bench or in the G League. That's just how the NBA works if the rookie isn't a Top 3 pick or a generational talent.
