What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

That would have been one sweet deal for the Jazz and would have made us instant contenders.

Honestly don't like that deal for Utah. Huge risk that PG is never the player he was before that injury. I'd much rather have seen the Jazz get Porzingis and Hill, NY gets Lyles/Hibbert and Indy gets Burke, Booker and a bunch of draft picks from both teams. That's the deal the Jazz should be looking for.

No way bro. PG is the superstar that takes us from a bunch of good to really good players, to a legit championship contender.

Sucks the deal is dead.

Also, that seems atrocious for Indiana.

How is getting Melo, Lyles, Burke, and multiple picks atrocious for a player they didn't even want (Hibbert) and George?

If it sucked for anyone, it sucked for the Knicks who were just getting Hibbert for Carmello.

Also, Melo would have to OK any deal that involved him getting moved. He has that in his contract.

I mean pretty much any number of 'unprotected' firsts we could give would be totally irrelevant with that roster.

If we somehow got PG without giving up Exum, Hayward, Hood, Favors or Gobert that would be one of the greatest trades for the Jazz ever.

Exum
PG
Hayward
Favors
Gobert

That is the best defensive lineup in the NBA day 1. That has the potential, with growth from Exum and to a much lesser extent Gobert, to be the best starting 5 in the NBA.

Because they would be crappy picks and I don't see Carmelo as a player who is good enough to win a title with. Better off just taking full rebuilding package from UT or NY.

Eh, they don't really want Hibbert, so they essentially get Melo for PG. Worse for NY. They have to be the ones who Knicksed (pun intended) it.

Had the pacers not signed Monta, this would make sense just as a deal with Indy so they could rebuild.

You really underrate Carmello. He has bad teams in NYC. He did well in Denver and was easily considered a top 5 player. The Jazz fans hate for Carmello is really over the top.

Fair enough - It's mainly being 31 and coming off injury. Interesting deal, it seems like we would have been the real beneficiary so too bad it didn't happen.

Not that any of us would know, but do you think Lyles will just be signed now?

It's also not out of the question that the Jazz were having legit tie-ups with Lyles agent over the small details of the contract and DL just took the bullet to protect Lyles from any fan backlash.

It's not over the top. Team success doesn't follow him. I can give him respect as a great player, but also recognize that he's not a piece on any championship team. I think he could be a guy who could take a championship team and turn it into a non-championship team. I mean seriously, plug him into the Warriors and I bet everyone else's efficiency drops, Carmelo gets his stats and they don't win another championship.

He's the kind of player that can make a bad team good and a great team good.

Well yeah, if you put him on the Warriors. That team isn't built to play with Melo. You have to build a team around him.

The dude dropped 46 points on us and nearly beat us single handily if it wasn't for an amazing shot by Burke.

The "Player X hasnt won a Chip yet so he will never win one because he is a loser" thing is such a bad argument. It's pretty much what everyone said about Dirk until Dirk finally won one.

Melo has had playoff success. He can't do anything in NYC because he has been on awful teams, it's not really his fault.

Hayward would be the sg and George the sf.
I think pg is like 6 10 and has played a decent amount of power forward.
But ya, that lineup would be awesome
