Corbin will adopt in at whatever Jr. College he's coaching at in 2040.
His validation as a coach will be obvious at that point.

The situation were "intentionally foul when ahead" is actually a good strategy is essentially a corner case. It requires you to be up by a very specific number of points in a very specific short-clock situation. This is an instance where adding additional layers of rules probably creates more confusion than its worth. I'm also not 100% against forcing players to be able to hit free throws as a real skill. I think this was a substantial percentage of Chauncey Billups' late game value during his career.
Snyder's on the bleeding edge on this one. I suspect it will be a standard strategy in 10 years. Corbin will adopt in at whatever Jr. College he's coaching at in 2040.

Your Burks observation is very interesting and bears watching. I wonder if there are any advanced metrics that keep track of possessions lost due to missed shot. It would be cool to see where different players rank once we have a statistically significant sample.Just finished watching the game.
A few thoughts
Burks missed 5 shots...... on 3 of the misses the jazz retained possession (1 miss another jazz player got an offensive rebound, one miss burks got his own rebound, and one miss was blocked by sacre out of bounds), one of his misses was because of a pleiss offensive goaltend. Only one of his misses resulted in a laker defensive rebound. I noticed the same thing on most of burks misses in the first game as well. He draws so much attention that there is no one on the defense ready for the rebound.
Trey shot the ball pretty well but of his 5 turnovers 3 of them were horrible passes while he was in the air with no where to go... and 1 of them was stolen by julius randle for a breakaway dunk. (his other one was just a bad pass that was a bit to high for withey) 4 of the 5 turnovers were really bad mistakes
I thought pleiss played great. He had two dunks in traffic (one of them was off a very tough catch that was low and behind him) and almost had another dunk but got fouled. (made both free throws) He was boxing out for rebounds well and kept allot of rebounds alive for teammates. The two offensive goaltends were actually good plays imo..... At least he was hustling and fighting for the rebounds and active, he just needs to get used to the nba game and those might have both been offensive rebound put backs.
Lyles played well but his shot is just way too flat. He had a couple of really open looks that were total bricks.
Ingles didn't play very well but had some nice defensive plays (a few deflections and had to guard bigger players in the post a couple times and held his own) and made some nice hockey assists.
Oh and Hood had a decent box score but his game was actually better than it looks on paper. Dude is very very good. I loved his post ups in the overtime and his jumpshot is beautiful.
I found it interesting that Hood was the one running the offense in crunch time the most despite Burks being the hot hand. I think that shows how much confidence snyder has in him. Nice to see Burks being unselfish and deferring to Hood allot at in crunch time too.
Hood did a good job of running the show.
Yep.
My expectations for lyles are really low.... I hated that pick.
Having said that I like him and if he can be a good shooter then I think he will prove me wrong since he is a skilled ball handler and passer for his size/position/age.
If he contributes much this year then it's just icing on the cake.
