Utah Jazz Summer League Topic

love watching Lyles shoot the three.

His shot has gotten filthy. Seems to be noticeably quicker and he is getting more lift from his legs (from what I remember his shot being last year).

The one thing I can take away from this SL: Trey is going to be a really good 3pt shooter in the NBA.

He still seems have a slow release when he's wide open and can set his feet but that's fine. But as far as his release on a catch and shoot it seems to have gotten pretty crisp. One of the more impressive things about his improvement imo.

Who cares how fast or slow the release is on open shots?

I would say most players slow down their shooting motion. Great shooters like Ray Allen were the same every time.

Certainly he was more consistent with his release time, but even he slowed his shot down and focused when he had time. @ 3:57

It's just a weird thing to notice. Every player slows their shot down when left wide open.
I'm talking about his shot in general seems kind of the same(slow but not game breaking), but he's "developed" that catch and shoot jumper which requires the quick release.

I wish I had more than the Celtics game to validate my point, but that's all that's available that I know of. In that games highlights he more or less was a factor in the post which is also a major improvement.

Didn't watch this game but in previous games this summer Lyles just appears to be very comfortable shooting the 3 even seems a bit more nimble out on the court. I'm just glad he didnt Trey Burke us with a **** show performance in summer league.

As a Vegas local, I'm usually pretty excited to see something in person from the Jazz at the summer league. Not so much this year. Think I'll save money by staying home and just streaming the games instead.

I changed my mind. I will be there in full throat today! Lyles has been kicking ***, and yesterday's sudden death double OT was just too good (even though we lost).

Seems to be putting more arch on his shot too.

How does his body look? Any more filled out or in shape? Any news of whether he's done P3 yet or will be doing it?

Here we go...

Holy **** balls... Lyles looks so fluid with that jumper. If he figures out how to be average defensively he might just wreck the damn league. It is so hard for a big guy to guard a guy that can drive as well as Trey does when he is hitting the above the break three. If you don't close out hard he gets the shot... you trap the PnR... he gets the shot. You close hard he goes around you.
