Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Well **** Woj says NO is doing the deal now.

He’s not a great fit on offense and if you are relying on him against Lebron and KD then you screwed.

I’ve heard Simmons and o Conner complain about how he stops the ball on offense which is not what they are about obvi.

Oh Morris was horrendous to start the season but he has been much better in the new year. But I'm speaking only of his value as somebody to throw on KD and LeBron, which is a considerable asset in the Celtics situation. Morris has done about as well as anybody at guarding them without fouling. They'd have a tough time matching anybody up on them w/o Morris. Jaylen Brown isn't quite there in my opinion and Ojeleye, while strong, usually fouls a little too much.

As HH has mentioned before, Mirotic may be plenty available for the Jazz to get in the offseason if the Pels bring back Cousins.

The first round pick was always a hangup for me. I imagine DL felt likewise.

Yeah I mean our equivalent would have been AB and a first. I don’t think we can do that.

We could still trade with NO in the offseason for Niko when they need to dump the salary. Would have been nice to get a look at it right now.

At draft time we could send Jerebko and Thabo for him and they could waive one or both. Give them a second rounder.

They will be at 128M with only 10 guys if the bring back DMC and Niko.

LT bill would be insane for that market. Could stretch Ajinca and maybe find some suitors for Moore or Hill I guess.

We will see.

Bulls were hell bent on the first rounder. That’s a lot of dead salary and giving back the second rounder.

I guess they aren’t using their space anyway, but I bet they could have found a first for their space... we could have given them expirings and a couple seconds... I guess the bird in the hand doe.

So in essence we know what we offered, right? I mean... every rumor turned right - we didn't want to give up Hood, we didn't want to give up first. They took less than a first(had to send back a second and a seconds swap) while absorbing a huge albatross. The value that would get beat by what CHI got is a second + expiring. My guess is this. We offered a second and Joe Johnson.

I wonder if we offered Hood. Hood and AB or Hood and JJ... I would think we could get a first rounder for Hood but who knows.

Their first does have more value than ours because there is no way we’d give it with just limited protections.

That and I wonder if sending Jerebko and taking Ajinca and swapping favs for Niko would have been more appealing to the pelicans.

I’m sad for us and for infection.

Well, that stinks. Oh well, it's a fantastic trade for the Pelicans. They get to dump Asik, get a great player to pair with AD and add Monroe.

NO kind of killed the Bulls in this thing lol. They would have needed to give away a first for the salary space anyway, but Chicago went ahead and gave them a nice trade asset for next season, as well as reportedly giving them a couple extra million more of cap relief.

The funny part is that the Pelicans almost screwed it all up by not wanting to have Mirotic for a second year.

We didn't offer Hood. From Chicago reporters the rumor is Chicago wanted Hood, but the Jazz didn't want to give him up for Mirotic. And I agree. Hood should have higher value than disgruntled Mirotic demanding to be traded.

I agree but we will see what we end up with. If we don’t move Hood for a decent return I’d be upset we missed out on Niko.

They kind of showed their hand for this offseason too. If it looks like Boogie will come back then everyone knows they will want to offload Niko.

The nba trade market isn’t perfectly efficient either... so player x should have value y but unless you find a match with the right assets it doesn’t always work.

Oh well... who we gonna be fascinated with now.
