Don't think it's that dire, but Utah WILL be set up to make a deal with a)cap space and b)the ability to trade the non-guaranteed contracts of Thabo, Udoh and Jerebko. Those last 3 are huge. Jazz could be front-runners for players like Mirotic since a team could trade, decline the options and wipe an entire salary off their books. One this is unquestionable - about half the league has to shed contracts to avoid the luxury next season. So they either suck it up and do it now or risk it this summer or next deadline.
By not clogging up cap space, I see DL at least having a conversation with Jabari. He could clear cap space by renouncing all FA's and trading Burks (and still keep Exum, I think). Or maybe he approaches Milwaukee and they agree to some kind of a trade, better than Milwaukee losing him for nothing or having to match and go deep into the tax.
If not Jabari, DL considers other PF's or even Favors if Derrick doesn't find a great offer. SAme with Hood. Rodney and the Jazz may find the best situation is returning if the market is soft. Outside of getting a 1st, I'd keep Hood and Favors. And if anyone wants Burks + a 2nd, I'd jump on that offer.
