I think 3 mill for 3 years is a good deal both ways. Very valuable for the Jazz, he probably has one more contract something like that after that and is set for life. Jazz get a great hustle bench player who will absolutely play up to the value of his contract.

Demarre is a guy I just can't picture getting lazy.

I liked Demare's the first game I saw him play; no idea why others were negative on him.

I don't think people were negative of him. I just don't think people thought of him as being all that relevant. But everyone was appreciative of his effort and work he did

Don't be too hasty. I thought the same about Matthews, and after he received the offer sheet from Portland I didn't want us to match as I figured he had maxed out his potential, and thought that was way too much money for Matthews, so I wouldn't be surprised if someon offers him Matthews type of money. If we can resign him for 3.5million great, but if it comes down to it, trade Marvin for an expiring and pay Carroll 5 million a year. I think Marvin is getting paid 8 million for his defense alone, because he's giving the jazz next to nothing on offense, so the way I see it Carroll at 5 million is a bargain.

Portland offered Mathews that contract in the previous CBA reign. This is the new CBA and in a star driven league, the non-stars are going to be paid less. I think $3-3.5 will be the smart decision and then a stupid GM like Kahn or Jordan will pick Demarre up for $5 mil.
