What's new

What does LeBron need to do to surpass Jordan?

LeBron is bigger, stronger, faster and a better/more efficient shooter. But unless LeBron gets 5-6 rings, he won't touch Jordan.

skill on skill? are you nuts? that's the most asinine thing i've ever heard all year. in what world bron has better skills than bron?

and bron shut down anybody 1-5? that's the most overblown thing ever. let's see if he can shut down hibbert 1 on 1. lol. it's pretty much known fact that he can't guard any 5. and he is the one who got neutralized by friggin boris diaw.

basketball knowledge on some of you posters are alarming. bron is great, but not MJ great.

1 on 1, MJ beats bron 9 out of 10 times. put MJ to current bulls team, MJ would make a mockery out of this heat team.

LeBron is a better passer. He is a better rebounder. He's a more efficient shooter. He's a better long range shooter. None of that can be argued and I'm pretty sure they are all basketball skills. MJ was a more relentless scorer and a better defender (MJ is probably the best wing defender ever to play the game).

Look, I said I may be wrong. Jordan's talent cant be denied, but you cant put him on a such a high pedestal that it isnt realistic anymore. Its closer than you make it seem.

Disagree
I take bron over bird and magic by a mile

I don't want to take away from the greatness of Bird and Magic, but yes, I'd take LeBron over them. I think most will have a hard time disagreeing after he wins his third consecutive title this summer.

All Im saying is, that if Jordan had to go through Lebron to win a championship, its probably not going to be the same as going against Byron Russell. Lebron isnt just going to get pushed to the side and let Jordan shoot a wide open jumper.

....you must be about 15 years old. And brain dead. By the way, how many jailhouse tats do you already have?

This should be reported for trolling.

Give em the hantlers treatment tbh

To your point, and interestingly enough, Bird who was known for his shooting, after a good rookie season, didn't become an elite 3pt shooter until age 28 when he shot 43% 3pt. In the four seasons prior to that, he was less than 30% 3pt. He finished his career as a 37% 3pt shooter. LeBron, at 28, shot 41% 3pt and is at 40% this year. He is at 34% for his career - not much worse than Bird's career mark - and rising. LeBron has 5 seasons over 55% 2pt, Bird had none. LeBron also has two seasons over 60% 2pt. Bird was a much better rebounder and in a different stratosphere shooting FTs. LeBron also has the edge in assists and points and I believe most NBA experts would consider LeBron a superior defender with his quickness and athleticism.

.....good point and nice observation! If we could have gotten ANY production whatsoever offensively from Ostertag, the Jazz would have definitely won that series! Oh, did I mention the Jazz also got HOSED big time by Dick Bevetta on those 2 three point shots, the one they counted by the Bulls that shouldn't have been....and the one they didn't count by the Jazz that should have been?

.....negative on most of your above observations and stats! First of all, back when Bird was playing, the 3 point line was MUCH farther back than it is today! Lebron would be a brick master of the 3rd degree....if he had to shoot back where Bird had to shoot to make a 3 pointer! In addition, back in Birds day, the allowed palming, but not NEAR the extent they let that go now! I mean these guys LITERALLY pick up there dribble....then START dribbling again as they blow by there man! It's so fragrant of a violation that it's absolutely laughable when you watch the replays! Plus, in Bird and Magic's day they ALLOWED hand checking to the 10th degree! Now, all you have to do is breath on a guy and he's at the free throw line for two foul shots!

Pretty sure the 3 point line is farther away now than it was when bird played but carolina is an idiot so I would expect some stupid **** from him.

Actually it is the same now as it was when bird played

Just answer the question fish. How many tats do you have? I think its relevant to his case.

....how many tats do you have, Fish? If so, where did you get them? Have you done time? Did the tat man do time? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

The NBA three point line was moved up 3 feet for the 2006-07 season to 19 feet 9 nine inches at the top of the key and 19 feet two inches on the sideline. The NBA three point was moved back three feet for the 2007-08 season to its original length. The NBA introduced the three point line in the 1979-80 season at a length of 23'9" from the top of the key to a length of 22 feet in the corners.

Bird and Magic came into the league in 1982.....so they played their entire careers when the line was still 3 feet further back than the 2007 season!

Fun fact

Tonight... Lebron passed Larry Bird and Gary Payton on the all time scoring list at the ripe old age of 28. And is closing in on Drexler fast.
