What does LeBron need to do to surpass Jordan?

MJ in this era would avg 40pts. go watch james harden. just few days ago, he shot 25FTs. lol Imagine the superstar calls MJ would get. bron is naturally set up first guy, so he doesn't shoot many FTs. sometimes he is just too passive and let the game come to him. MJ would attack the rim at will in this no hand check era. MJ was the ultimate attacker. dude was a machine.

Maybe..... he wouldnt have the assist and rebound numbers of lebron doe

lebron is a great defender because of his versatility, and his strength to d up against tweener 4s. but MJ was the ultimate shut down corner. he was Deion sanders. and MJ can only guard 1-3. but if bron was asked to guard 4 in 80's and 90's, he would get owned badly.

and pippen became that shut down corner as well, so MJ in later years became a great help defender after he lost that quickness.

and pippen destroys bron at every facet of perimeter defense.

wanna know why? because pippen had to guard MJ every damn practice. this is not a joke.

Lebron guards point guards too dog.

Watched him shutting down tony parker in da finals yo

in this same 'tough era', 40 year old MJ with 1 good knee dropped 40+pts on our own richard jefferson who was a great athlete 10 years ago.
MJ.

that era(10 years ago) actually had a tough overall defense, and had plenty of younguns - tmac, kobe, vinsanity, etc, etc.

Just stop. Arguing about who would do what in which era is one of the most pathetic and reaching discussions people can have. Nobody has a clue what MJ would do in this era or what LeBron would do in MJ's era or what Russell or Wilt would do in Hakeem's era. To act like you know what MJ would do today is embarrassing. Don't do that - it just makes you look foolish. We can only judge these guys on what they actually have accomplished, both individually and with a team. Both are great players, they have different strengths and different weakness. Both were and are without question the best players of their generation. Both are champions. For now, however, until LeBron gets 5-6 titles, MJ has to be on top.

Almost as ridiculous is Skip Bayless saying MJ would beat LeBron one on one. I tend to think LeBron would win one on one because he's bigger, stronger shoots better and is just as athletic, but the problem is, basketball is played 5 on 5, guys are judged on their success both individually and as a team based on what they've done playing 5 on 5.

He shut down Derrick Rose in the playoffs the year before.

When you can shut down both TonyP and DRose you have to be an astounding defender.

When Lebron puts his mind to it, he is an incredible defender 1 on 1 or in a team concept.

I have to believe he would make life hard for Jordan if they played against each other. I cant really see Jordan doing the same to Lebron. Lebron is just bigger and stronger. It would probably be close but Lebron would probably get the edge.

Thats how I see a fantasy matchup between them, but Jordan still has the edge based on the entirety of his whole career. It will only be fair to compare careers when Lebron is done though.

Make a list of players with the most effective and successful fade away jumpers. Then think about the last sentence again.

Answer: More rings, more mind-blowing heroics. Playing in a tougher league isn't really something he has control over.

Nope. I gotta disagree with you here. LeBron made this terrrible stinking league full of terrible teams when he decided that since he couldn't beat the Eastern Confernce he was going to join forces with two other 'super stars'. That move killed Toronto and Cleveland making the competition worse. And the resulting super team movement has made the entire league worse.

Jordan played under Sterns ideal model of every team with two star players and the league benifited from that. There was a legitmate chance for several teams in any given season to win it all, or atleast make a serious push. Yea, I know that Boston did 3 stars before "the Decision' so maybe the old model was wounded. But it was Lebron's 'Decision' that killed the old two star model and started teams dumping thier 'superstars' before they walked. Deron, Melo, Chris Paul were all hastily moved before they left their teams for nothing. Now too many teams believe they are so far away from being competitive that they are willing to lose games on purpose to try to sell their fans hope. Sad.

Jordan, Magic, Bird all catapulted the league into expansion, growth, and an explosion of popularity. In Lebrons era there is lock-outs and talk of contraction, tanking, and empty arenas. Doesn't matter what he does on the court he will NEVER surpass Jordan, and it will have been his own fault.

This is quite a stretch, but sure. But the league he was in when he played for the Cavs wasn't tougher than the 90's either. Not by any stretch.

Just want to say that jordan had more of a super team than lebron

Prime pippen better than past prime wade

Steve kerr better than chalmers

Tony kukoc better than battier

Rodman better than bosh

Horace grant better than birdman/joel anthony

Phil jackson better than spoelstra.

I still think jordan is better but the lebron needed a super team to win arguement doesnt fly with me since jordan had an even more super team

Oops.

Also didnt knownif i should throw ron harper in there somewhere

Pippen was a beast.

If Lebron would have had Wade when he was healthy and in his prime, They would have already won 6 rings by now at least.

The current Heat roster isnt all that great. Wade is nowhere near the player he was. Bosh just isnt a superstar. Dont really know why anyone has looked at it that way. The team doesnt even have a decent rim protector.

depends on who's the coach. again when MJ was asked to play like bron, he was dropping 32.5/8/8.

depends on the team, MJ can have 5 reb per game or 8. all depends on who's the rebounder. bron ain't rebounding 7-8 a game when he plays with guys like rodman.

you do know MJ did play in early 2000's right? against vince carter, tracy mcgrady, kobe bryant, etc? when they were young and in prime?

and did you just say bron shoots better? lol. that's the funniest thing i've ever heard in a long time. wow. obviously you never watched jordan and probably just read the statline and actually never really watched bron.

bron shoots better than jordan?

wow.

basketball knowledge in here is low. wow. i'm very depressed now.

get outta here.

wade before bron was 27/4/6.5ast guy.

against okc in finals he dropped 22.6/6/5.2

against san antonio with 1 good knee still dropped 19.5/4/4.5

wade without bron at worst puts up james harden number.

bosh as a lead dog was 24/11. dude had to adopt playing with 2 top players. let's not act like bosh can avg 24/11 if he played for us or any other bad teams.

i laugh at those who thinks this Heat team isn't great.

this heat has everything minus the big. but in today's NBA. you don't need bigs. with 1 superstar and 2 stars, all Heat needs is bunch of shooters who can knock down the shots.

this Heat is built for this era. without ray allen, we would be talking about if bron has 'it' again.
