WTH? Burks is a better shooter (Burks 35% 3pt, Livingston a dismal 16%), a better scorer, better at getting to the line. They are nearly identical at rebounding and assists. Livingson's PER is 14, Burks is 16. All that and Burks is just 22, Livingston is 28.

Burks is definitely better than Livingston, and younger.

My eye says he's not.

You use shooting percentages way too much. Not referencing this post, just in general.

I think Lazy was saying Livingston is the better passer therefore playmaker, not scorer.

I could be wrong.

It has nothing to do with bias or homerism, the numbers support it. It's okay to be wrong. Trust me, I have plenty of experience - I've been married 18 years.

Lol I'm not gonna say I'm wrong. Not a numbers kinda guy. Having seen both Burks and Livingston play quite a bit, I think Livingston is a superior playmaker. Pretty sure the numbers even support this stance as not being far-fetched. And, of course, I'd expect disagreement, it's not like there is a tremendous gap between the two players.

And yes, there's always a trace of homerism or de-homerism present, even if it's an untraceable amount. It's like One Brown's racism.

I just looked it up and burks played 2 more minutes per game.
Burks averaged 14 pts. Livingston 8.

Burks averaged 3.3 rebounds. Livingston 3.2

Burks averaged 2.7 assists. Livingston 3.2

Burks shot 48 percent from 2. Livingston 48 percent.

Burks shot 35 percent from 3 on 1.8 attempts per game. Livingston shot 16 percent from 3 on 0.1 attempts per game (he had zero 3 pt attempts in his 49 game season the previous year)

Burks has missed like 2 games due to injury in his career. Livingston? Lol

Burks is 22 years old
Livingston is 28 years old

Just some food for thought

For you lazy (not sure if you read this so i figured i would quote ya)

Check that 3 pt percentage for livingston! Ouch.

If we were going to make a run in the playoffs then MAYBE (and thats a big maybe) you could make a case for choosing livingston over burks.... but since we will be in the lottery next year (unless someone like burks make a huge leap in thier development and blows us away) there is no way that livingston should start over burks.

At least we wont have livingston on our team so we wont need to worry about it.

Last thing we need is another player who cant shoot..... no way lindsey goes after livingston

If we stay at #5 to draft a big like Vonleh, Randle, or Gordon, then I would love a free agent pick up of Kyle Lowry.

lol don't worry fish I read that post

This makes it sound like you think Livingston is better

And yes, I expect the Jazz youngsters to develop and all be better next year, and if Livingston doesn't then his ability might be surpassed.

And btw i dont see how posting stats of the two players in question is me having a "burks circle jerk"

I think burks is a bit better but it could be argued that livingstons experience could help a team trying to win now more than burks skills.

Does that sound like a homer statement?
I believe i have been pretty fair and open minded in this discussion. (I did say livingston might be the better passer despite the fact that thier assist numbers are pretty close)

I think the circle jerk (homer) comment was unwarranted

Lol It doesn't at all. I just thought of a cool name for your guys Burks infatuation and had to share it. There's nothing wrong with it, and I like Burks a lot too. He is my favorite player on the Jazz, and iirc, the one I'd most enjoy to go on a date with!

Sorry fish. I should have put my circle-Burks comment elsewhere, but trust me, it had nothing to do with this discussion.

not to mention the laughable stat known as "PER".

People sleeping on Livingston. He's probably the best-possible backup in free-agency right now, and it's a pipe-dream to want him on the Jazz unless he's given a starting role.

Anyone who watched the Brooklyn/Miami series would confidently say that Livingston outplayed DWill, even though box-scores would hint otherwise. Dude had the ball in crunch-time, made consistently smart-decisions, and hit clutch free-throws.

tl;dr Livingston most-likely isn't coming to the Jazz, I'm happy with how his career is rebounding, and I fully expect him to continue his potent production on a team next season.

I like Livingston but, Burks > Livingston

And the gap will only grow if Livingston won't prove that he is indeed a late bloomer.

No worries.... im a famous overreactor in regards to burks (ask dala)

You didnt know the size of the can of worms you were opening
