What's new

Why doesn't anybody talk about Aldridge or Love?

I've said it in the past many times, but it keeps being more and more true:

Millsap>Aldridge>Love

One interesting thought about Milsap. With his 3 point improving so much, could he possibly play SF for the right team? With Favors/Gobert at the 4/5, and Hayward/Exum at the 1/2, he may not be much of a liability at the 3. Wait, am I sounding like kkk now?!

-Because they probably won't come here
-Because you'd have to move Favors and I'm not sure what you'd get for him.
-Because it would screw with the chemistry.
-Because I'm not positive that those players are better than Favors.
-Because I do not like Kevin Love and I think he's a weenie.

Are you just trying to illustrate how disinterested you are in Aldridge, or would you actually like to see Anthony on the Jazz?

I use to really want the Jazz to trade for Carmello when we had D-Will. I was convinced Sloan could teach Melo how to play team basketball and we would dominate with him.

Heck, no to Love. The guy sucks on defense. I don't care how many rebounds he can pull down - if you want rebounds then go love on Kanter.

Aldridge is solid but we have Favors. We could draft Turner as he's similar to LA coming out of college. Then use the $ we'd pay Aldridge for a solid player.

I have said this before but I will not be surprised if we throw big money at stretch 4 type player. If DL and QS think they will fit with our chemistry they will pursue it. They both see that role as a key to moving to the next level.

Anybody likes Tobias Harris? He can play both the 3 and stretch 4 in small line ups?

I like him. His defense is a little bit suspect but I don't think that will matter much with Gobert and Favors. We may need a better 3pt shooter though. I think he can benefit from Quin's system too. He is also going to be maxed.

As a scorer? No.
I hate absolutes. All I know is every year Favors has improved and looked better on offense. This year he improved and gained a 15 ft jumper, and now he's talking about adding a 3pt shot. If we ever get a good pick'n roll pg Favors could really take off. I don't know if Favors will ever be as good as LA, but it wouldn't surprise me if he ever passed LA in offense.

Actually I think Favors value is at an all time high. Great Character and locker room guy who still has loads of potential who is a two way player on one of the most team friendly contracts in the nba. If the jazz wanted I think we could possibly get a top 5 pick this year for him.

Less efficient? By what metric?

Don't get me wrong, they're pretty similar. What I'm pointing out is the absurdity to let cheap Jefferson go for nothing and replacing him with expensive LMA, but getting even less defense.

Direct answer: worse a/t ratio. If you thought Jefferson couldn't pass...

Even with the upcoming salary cap raise, a team that maxes Tobias freakin' Harris is going to have problems. . .

I just want Favors to add a nasty streak. I want him to play with fire every game. So often he just seems too laid back and, I'm not going to say disinterested, but I would love to see him just going at it every game. Gobert does just this. He stares guys down, pumps his team up, and plays like he wants it.

Jefferson never turns over the ball. He's going to have better numbers than many people who are more efficient. Jefferson had a better a/t ratio this year than Gordon Hayward, but a worse a/t than Trey Burke. Favors isn't even close.

I think you want to use assist%.

Jefferson and Aldridge do rate similarly, though, especially comparing Aldridge's year with Jefferson's last in Utah. Jefferson's inability to get to the line gives Aldridge an advantage overall in efficiency, however.

Besides the age difference and Favors' upside, a key reason the Jazz should pass is his injury history. He's had several major injuries in his career. I'd be terrified of spending max dollars on a guy who might break down on them.

If you really want to invest in a quality big man, see what Millsap draws on the open market. If it's not a max, you offer the most and hope that what the Jazz are building, plus Quin Snyder, plus Lil'Sap being here is enough to get him to come back. It will cost you Booker, but Millsap is an All-Star.

I don't think the Jazz are quite ready for that move. Possibly by the trade deadline.

Would you have said that about Malone after his rookie year?
1. No clue. I didn't really start watching basketball until 2003.

2. How is the question relevant? I've seen Favors play for 5 years, and he's yet to show any real ability to operate on-ball.

So...Favors is looking to improve as an off-ball scorer. That's probably what's best for both the Jazz and Favors' career, but if that's what his role will continue to be moving forward, he's going to be limited as a scorer. He hasn't shown signs of developing into an effective on-ball player (like Aldridge).

I came very close to negging the **** out of this. So sick and tired of this crazy stupid rumor that Favers is soft or that he doesn't give 100% every night. U can't be one of the best defenders at ur position if ur soft. Just because being soft spoken and not having an ounce of diva doesn't mean he doesn't play hard and give his all every game.

It's sad and mother ****ing pathetic that many on jazzfanz think this while Favors played next to a guy for years no longer on this team that admitted he didn't always give his best to this team and u have the audacity to say he's soft? Rediculus!
