Why settle? Tonight’s draft-buy picks/move up

A small deal wouldn't be a problem, I don't think. We also have a TPE still from the Burks trade.

It would though and you are wrong. Currently we need to clear another $400k to complete the Memphis trade. can do that by just waiving neto, but that clears like 1.2M... so taking on anything that changes or cap projection by $800k then we will need to waive Favors to complete the trade... that is a much bigger deal to our front office. The TPE has a cap hold that will need to be waived in order to complete the Conley deal. so the timing really doesn't matter.

Tony Jones made it sound like there are "a couple guys" the Jazz really like who may be available in the early 2nd round. I'm guessing one of their top targets is Nic Claxton. I can't quite tell on the other, could be Paschall, could be Windler, could be Bruno.

Shouldn't he that amazed. 20-40 is pretty fluid.

which is why buying a pick in the 30s would be awesome and preferable to giving up real assets to get in the 20s. DL go get the trust credit card... its time to treat yo self.

I have feeling something big will happen tonight, I don't think DL is done just yet. This is our year, the Larriors are in shambles atm with Durant and Thompson injured and the Rockettes are not seeing eye to eye. The west is wide open, so the time to strike is now DL!

Claxton ain't getting to the second round.

Paschall, Windler, Edwards are all guys projected around there I could see the Jazz liking.

Hell there is a shot the guy they want falls to #53... every year weird things happen. Keita falling last year and the Jazz not trying to get him made me sad. I could see someone falling once teams start taking random Euros they can stash.

We get Jordan Bone and trade into the 30s or 40s and get Admiral Schofield... get all our offseason additions from the state of Tennessee.

Teams in cap hell might value a player on a rookie deal though?

Plus if they were in cap hell... like OKC sending out some dead salary would be more beneficial than just cash. Sending out Patterson would save them the salary of 5M plus like 15M in tax... that's a lot more than just the max cash considerations one can offer.

There are a few guards who might be available at 53 who are worth taking, including Bone and Jaylen Hands. Shamorie Ponds might be there too, though he gets mixed reviews.

The Jazz do have a gaping hole in their roster when you consider we'll need a strong defensive wing to guard the likes of Lebron and Kawhi. I guess Royce O'Neale will draw some of those assignments, but Crowder was a big body who played solid defense. I just hope we don't end up with Grant Williams.

If we buy a pick I could see us targeting Paschall or Schofield. Maybe Windler if he slips. I think the Jazz will be looking at wings and 4's with the potential to shoot and switch on defense. I also think they'd prioritize guys who have a shot to contribute right away over guys who may take a few years. Just because of all the open roster spots and the focus on contending now.

Not a perfect answer, but Ingles isn't exactly inept there...

If we do get a pick, Jazz will use it on whomever will help the team immediately I'm guessing.

Maybe. They want to make a run this year, but in the draft they're looking for talent. I don't think they'd take Chuma Okeke, since he's a year away from getting on the floor, but they'd take a young guy like Claxton with real upside.

Ideally, the Jazz need to get a really solid 3/D wing in free agency, like a younger version of Trevor Ariza.

By buying a second round pick? Lol. Trading Exum and Favors for Love or Griffin is the way to win this year

I really want either Paschall or Schofield.

I would be ecstatic if we swung a deal and snagged both of them. Yes I know that is a bit unrealistic but it would be a boss move by the Jazz.
