Will Kanter return for the 2015/2016 season

Will Kanter be back next season?

The good news is that teams will probably take the Jazz seriously when they say they will match any contract offer, because they have shown a willingness to do that.

Vucevic got 4 years and $53MM. Will be interesting to see if Kanter gets that on the open market. I suppose he could. It depends on whether he keeps scoring 20 pts a night.
Similarities are striking BTW.
Vucevic was born in Switzerland in 1990, like a certain Enes Kanter who was born there in 1992.
In his contract year, Vucevic averaged 14.2 ppg and 7.7. rpg.
Utah's own son (or Kentucky's) Kanter is averaging 14.7 ppg and 7.2 rpg.
Per 36, Vucevic had averaged 16.1/8.8, whereas Kanter has hitherto had 19.4/9.5

Add-on:
Kanter's contract year percentages are better than those of Vucevic.
FT: 794>766
2P%: 547>507
3p%: 333/ Vucevic had none.

I believe he will be back and more importantly, I WANT him back. I don't get frustrated with Kanter like others do. I also think Kanter does more good things than he does bad things. I love his game and am happy that he improved from last year to this year.

Go Team Kanter.

Defense wins championships. So while his offense is cute I need to see far more consistency on the defensive end. Personally, I would love to see a Favors/Gobert front line. I think those 2 have the length and the defensive impact to win championships.

If it gets to 16, I expect the Jazz to maybe try a sign and trade. Tell the team (before the contract is signed) they can't let Kanter get away for nothing and would RELUCTANTLY have to match an offer that big. But they'd be willing to work a trade that would save both teams some money.

If I'm DL, I call Kanter's agent at 12:00.01 and offer him the same contract as Favors if he'll agree to sign immediately.

Wait, isn't 16 the new 10?

I want Kanter back. I've always liked him. He gives us pretty consistent offense. I've noticed a lot when the Jazz struggle on offense, usually in the 1st or 2nd quarter, Kanter is the only guy that has a reliable shot. He also seems to play with some fire, he isn't a 'nice' guy on the court like Favors. And we need that.
He isn't a decent defender, but he's gotten better as the season has gone on. And really no one on our team besides Rudy has been a great defender.
I don't think we will keep him though. He's gonna get a big offer this off season. My guess is at least 13 mill a year but probably 15 a year. With enough minutes he can get 20/10 pretty easily.
A 22 year old putting up 20/10? That's gonna command a huge paycheck

Also because no other profession (outside of porn) has an age limit. If you are skilled enough to do something, you should be able to do it and get paid and not have to make money for the greedy colleges.
Also, bars have age limits I think.

Also I think the nfl does (dint think you can come straight from high school) and I actually think the nba already has some kind of limit too. (Can't come straight from high school)

A month ago the results of the poll would have been the exact opposite. I hope it continues to trend up. HOWEVER if he keeps getting better he will demand a ridiculous contract.

Was there ever any news about whether or not he was offered a deal this summer? We're we holding off offering something, or did Kanter's Kamp decide to test free agency?

This feel like it's gonna play out like Favors and Hayward. Favors and Burks both chickened out and decided to take the money. While Hayward got paid, and maybe Kanter will too.

I remember hearing that he was offered a deal by the Jazz but he turned it down. I dont have a link on it, but thats what I remember reading

I remember something similar. They offered a deal but both sides weren't close so they just cut off negotiations early.

It will be when the new TV deal hits and every team all of a sudden has a lot of cap room. We know from the past owners can't keep it in their pants (I'm talking wallets, of course). When it comes to free agent bidding, it's going to be a feeding frenzy. And that really started last season. Teams don't mind paying extra in anticipation of a much higher cap and tax threshold.

I'm sure the two sides were FAR apart. TBH, how would you establish his value? From a Jazz standpoint, they have to look at 2013/14: a defensively-challenged backup who really didn't show any progress from the prior season. His 5 pts/per jump in scoring correlated to his increase from 15 to 27 minutes. I'll bet they offered $6-8M.

Then you have Enes and his agent counting on him starting and having a much better season. They probably asked for at least a Favors'-type deal. Would that be a bargain right now? Probably. Would anyone have seen that as a decent deal before the season began or after the first ten games? Also, I have to believe NOT having a contract is a wake-up call and motivation for Kanter to work his *** off. Had we given him a big contract, does he develop AK-itis and fail to improve much over this season and the next four?

Kanter has had a good two weeks, but he still can't play defense and Quin doesn't know what to do with him on defense. DL has a huge decision to make because he will probably get thrown a big offer. Kanter isn't close to being a max player.

Neither was the player on your avatar, we can't afford to screw up the way we did with GH again

When does an infraction go away btw? I feel dirtier than I am with the "Infractions: 0/1 (1)"

We screwed up with GH?
We either matched or didn't. The way Hayward is playing I say the Jazz DIDN'T make a mistake.
I'd almost rather have a player NOT accept a deal. It's motivational. It also reflects an aggressive and confident personality. Now there might be family or personal reasons for accepting less money and locking in a deal. But look at Favors and Burks: two pretty passive players. Hayward and Kanter: they've become aggressive. And I think part of that personality emerged from them saying "* *" to DL and telling him they were going to prove their worth on the court.
