Woj: Joe Ingles is finalizing deal to return to the Utah Jazz

The real question here, is what kind of avatar is Cy going to make Colton present. I hope it's not some dumb Mississippi college crap. I think it should be like a Bikini girl picture that normally makes him and Jason nervous around here.

Something barely legal.
What? I won the bet. The bet was whether he would sign for over or under $15 million. Plus Cy chicken out and didn't actually bet avatars.

No, the bet was he would get a 15 million per year offer. I never said he would sign it.

Just pride!

I guess that puts our deal back on. And I'm REALLY hoping you get to choose my avatar.

Hmm. Maybe I didn't read the fine print. Anyway, he didn't get a verified $15 million offer, so I think I still win. But I will admit that your number was closer than I expected. I hoped it would be close to the MLE. If push came to shove I probably would have gone with $10 million for next year. I'd guess with this contract, next year is about $12.5, so it's actually right in between our two numbers. Funny that.

I don't think Colton lost. The $15M/per was rumored. It was never official. For all we know, it came from Joe's agent to drive up his price. How can you say "somebody would have offered $15M and possibly more?" And Boston would have gotten Paul George if not for some collusion between the Pacers and OKC.

TBH, I don't think anyone won. Perhaps CY was closer to what happened, but this wasn't a closest to the pin competition. Nobody won, nobody lost...unless you count Ingles!

He signed with Utah on the first day of free agency for 2 million per year less than the bet. He gave a home town discount, and didn't even bother to play the market. I predicted the market would be higher and that Joe would sign here for 12 per. I'll guarantee Utah didn't pay 13 per on the first fricken day, if they didn't think they were getting off easy.

Believe what you want, but JJ Redick, who Joe made his bitch in the playoffs last year, got a 23 million deal for one year. Yes, it's one year. Still a good indicator of what joe might be worth on a longer contract.

CY did chicken out, from what I remember.:p

Still, the bet wasn't what he would sign for. It was whether or not someone would offer him 15 million or more.

I think you lost that in a big way. IMO, Utah gives him this deal on the first day, knowing they are getting a break. Without other info, you get off on a technicality. No doubt in my mind he get's an offer of 15 per and maybe more. No point in going after a UFA with an offer that isn't risky.

You know it! And when we made the bet, I was only about 65% confident. But now, it's more like 80 or 90%. :)
And I was about 65% pessimistic, based on what Boston was saying they would do. Shouldn't have underestimated Ainge's tightwad reputation. Of course it ain't over 'til Robyn has Gordon sign on the dotted line. But with Joe back, I do think your percentages are correct (I hope). I guess I can live with a Cougar logo - or whatever else you choose for me.

And no one DID offer him $15M. It was just a rumor that Orlando might. Are all rumors true? Agents play games. They leak supposed interest and/or deals to drive up prices. Utah jumped because they couldn't afford to wait for an offer and then decide to match or not. They needed Joe to be signed by Monday. Ingles needs to be sitting in that boardroom right next to Gordon.

Well he didnt even talk to any teams besides Utah, so yeah.

Ill call it a push since there was a rumor from a credible source he would have been offered 60/4 but he never technically got it.

The 4th year is concerning considering age/late development but worth the risk IMO as it likely increases the odds of retaining Hayward. Also, Ingles' character/work ethic increases the likelihood that he is able to maintain or increase his current level of play. Not to mention the intangibles he brings regardless of performance. It's a risk but a calculated one.

Welcome back Jingles! Re-signing with a home town discount was great, nothing like a little salary sacrifice to show your commitment to the cause.

The Jingles highlight for me this year was Game 1 v the Clippers, after Gobert went down everyone on the Jazz was in shock (including Hayward and Quin), Jingles sensed this and took it upon himself to really lift the intensity. I think he scored/assisted on 4 of the next 5 baskets with a couple of quick steals. Really showed me his leadership potential.
