Donovan is great, but we need 1 more piece. I'd say draft pick.
Hes not greatly skilled and I dont think hes a good enough shooter or passer to be on the receiving end of Quins advantage basketball system. Im with you there. But Dante is fast and long enough that he could be a great initiator. Collapsing the D and get everyone moving. What does Dante do well?
And let’s fece it, he’s now lost 2 seasons due to injury. Is that something we can depend on?

Let's leave Rodney out of this.
Dante absolutely killed it this summer against some good talent. He was Quin's whipping-boy last year and still showed exciting form at times. He's way to unproven to give up on.

Interesting. I am a bit more optimistic but I can see where you are coming from. I am looking forward to seeing at least one more season from him. He has some elite skills I like. His ballhanding, lack of aggression, and inability to stay healthy put into doubt whether he’ll ever be able to collapse an nba defense consistently.
I’m not saying cut him now. What I’m saying is we should plan on moving from him in the next offseason.

His quickness to size ratio is primarily it. There really arent many players like Dante that have his quickness and size. Thats really why he was drafted at 5 in my opinion. He definitely has some shoddy skills, I dont deny that. But so does half the Spurs roster. I think a lot of coaching Dante will be mitigating hos faults and emphasizing his strengths, of which Dante definitely has some. As a franchise, we arent LA, we will have to be resourceful and I think making Dante into a player is not out of the question. What are these elite skills if you don’t mind me asking?

If you watched summer league it's not even a question that Dante has improved a lot. He was coming off a knee injury all last season and wasn't ready mentally or physically. Add to that Quin's mind-****ing and you have a player who underperformed. The real Dante was on display in summer league and he was mighty impressive. He was aggressive and it seemed like he was a step ahead of everyone else.

That said, what are your thoughts? Do you think Dante is quick for his size? Maybe it doesnt matter if hes just not good enough haha
Ah ok, i hear ya. He definitely is not a great ball handler and doesnt seem to handle the second level of defense that well imoI honestly don’t see any elite skills. His physical gifts are irrelevant since he doesn’t have the ballhandling skills to exploit nba defenses or the health to stay on the court.
Thanks, Karl MaloneWe're still an impact player away from contending & although DL has shown the ability to find talent outside of the lottery, you still have to play the odds IMO. The higher the draft pick, the better.
So jettison Hood or Exum, because signing both means no significant cap space. I guess signing just one, then the Jazz have Burks' and Rubio's salaries come off the books. Of course, that also assumes Utah does nothing to address the oozing hole at PF for next year (Favs and JJ would be gone), so you'd have Jerebko and Thabo man the 4?I have this sneaking feeling the Jazz could actually be players in 2019 free agency if the Jazz make the right moves to preserve cap while simultaneously being a good team and revered organization.
So, playoffs.
Additionally, I just don't see the Jazz sucking enough to get a top-10 pick. So they might as well make the playoffs at that point in my mind. And hell, if they can get healthy and can resolve this Rubio/Favors roster debacle, they could maybe even make a little noise.
Playoffs. Of course i voted on what i would like to see the jazz do from a fan perspective.
If i were the GM then maybe i would vote differently.
Since i am fan its playoffs and its not even close.
Str8line did say in the OP 'What would you do if you were a Jazz GM' though... so your vote should have actually been the draft pick.
