What's new

Following 2016 potential draftees

I'm starting to really like Korkmaz. His quick-release jumper is sweet, and his handling, passing and timing with the ball remind me of Jeff Hornacek. Elite shooter and potentially elite ball mover. This is exactly what the Jazz need in the backcourt. He also has quick feet, which should help on defense. I think he could possibly play some spot minutes at PG. I could picture him going lottery.

This year with the #12 pick it's either Luwawu or Korkmaz for me.

Interestingly Chad Ford has Korkmaz at #12 in his latest mock draft (Jazz) while DX has him at #18.

On the other hand Chad Ford has Luwawu at #19 while DX has him at #12. (i.e., opposite of each other).

I wonder who's gonna be right here???

One thing I like about the Korkmaz pick is he will have a solid mentor in Okur....

Edit: But then Luwawu will also have Gobert....

I'd side with Chad Ford on this one. I like Luwawu and think he's a rotation player, but I don't think he's that special in the end. Korkmaz shows me everything Devin Booker showed last year with better passing. Korkmaz is also only 18, nearly 2 years younger than Luwawu. Korkmaz looks lottery and Luwawu looks like a late teens, early 20s pick to me.

Luwawu I guess would have the defensive edge, but Korkmaz has the better shooting for sure and in today's NBA that's pretty important... you only have to look at the successes of Booker, McCollum and Hood to realise that...

So yes I guess if you're swinging for the fences then Korkmaz, but I guess Luwawu's appeal is his more well rounded game.

I'm not sure. I think Luwawu is a straight-line driver and spot-up shooter. Yes, I think he can defend, and I think he'll be a decent player, but I don't think he gives the Jazz a new dimension. Korkmaz gives the Jazz pretty elite shooting and passing, plus the ability to switch defensively, since he's 6'7". Pretty ideal if you ask me.

Luwawu is also 6'7" .... the main knock on him is whether his 3pt shooting is legit...

As I posted not long ago, Korkmaz doesn't fit 'the Lyles criteria' that Luwawu does, which is; Looks ready to contribute 20+ minutes by the end of his rookie season.. (and ready to be the next man up)

Let's wait to see what Korkmaz scores on the balance test. We all know the criteria is the balance test.

Well both Justise Winslow and Stanley Johnson were taken well before Devin Booker.... and yet it was Booker who had the breakout year....

I've learnt not to doubt legit 3pt shooting after this year... LOL

Who can Korkmaz switch on? There are question if he can even guard his man.

Booker is also the only one of those 3 to play on a bad team where he got a ton of touches. Winslow and Johnson had good years as key pieces off the bench on playoff teams.

Ok, but if there was a re-draft right now where would Booker go? I think he would go at least 5-6 places higher than where he went... possibly higher than Johnson or Winslow.

Ya know what would be a crazy trade..

Derrick Favors and Trey Burke for Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart...

It might not be as bad for the Celtics as you'd think.. They could draft Kris Dunn with Rozier and Burke as backups.. Next to Bradley, Crowder and Favors thats a bigtime defensive lineup and they're all relatively young..

They could also decline Amir Johnson 12 million dollar option and spend it elsewhere because of it.. Which would leave them tons of room... They could sign Dwight Howard to play next to Derrick..

Favors can play next to Sullinger or Olynyk easily.

The Jazz would need to draft a big and possibly resign Trevor Booker.. and of course for Lyles to step up..
Interesting idea except for the jazz having 5 point guards on their roster.

Thomas, exum, smart, mack and neto. (in no particular order)

There would need to be a 3rd team. Maybe throw in chicago. The can send butler to utah and smart and thomas can go to utah. (among other considerations)

I think he'll be okay. I don't think he's necessarily a defensive liability. His foot speed and motor look fine. If you believe in guys like McCollum, Fournier, Devin Booker, etc. I think you have to believe in Korkmaz too. He's at least as long and quick as any of those.

Luwawu vs korkmaz will be a fun argument.

Let me preface my opinion with that i think there are a ton of bigs available in the low teens. Bigs take longer to develop therefore there is a better chance of a homerun or even a solid double (rotational player).

Luwawu does everything well. He is already a solid player. His defensive stance is already good and he seems to have the desire to play defense. His shoot looks good and he plays with fire. His measurements are very good.

Korkmaz has an amazing shot and great offensive mind set. His release is amazing and nba ready. He has a great offensive mind set. Defensively i worry a lot. He doesnt show a lot of desire to play defense and his posture is flat out awful. As good as he is offensively his defense is the polar opposite. (side bar: because of kanter i am worried about purely offensive players especially Turkish. I know that i shouldnt feel this way and i apologize to the turkish people this might offend).

I would draft luwawu.
