What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Even tho I'm partial to lefties, I'd rather have Zach Collins. I think he could play some 4 next to Rudy too, he can shoot some from 3 and he's also got much better footwork.

Justin Patton is probably the best shotblocker of the bunch, with Ike and ZC not far behind.

Hartenstein would be a phenomenal pick and value in the 20's tho, no denying that.

Thon Maker is also an interesting comparison point for Hartenstein. Not sure who I'd take.

Thon Maker is still primarily a perimeter player. Hartenstein is a beast, like Marc Gasol sized. I don't think Hartenstein will end up playing the 4 full-time, just the way the league is headed.

I feel about Giles like i did about Skal. Might turn into really good players, but based on what i saw in college, I'd prefer somebody else take the risk. With Skal, early returns look good, but if I'm a nba gm I'm at peace with passing on him.

With Giles you have the added issue of the knees. No thanks.

Thon has perimiter skills and a faceup game and can put the ball on the floor, he also had some blocks on Rudy tho IIRC.

Hartenstein won't be a starting 5 in the league anytime soon, unless you aim to tank, he'd get mauled by too many matchups.

Skal is different and most assuredly a near 1-of-1 case. His deft touch on offense and overall bodycontrol offensively is really what separates him from most players that fall like that or most bigs with similar body type.

SKal is what a lot of smart ppl said he was going to be, and a lot of dumb people were disenchanted into believing he had no chance at becoming, after seeing him for a WILDY-NECESSARY ONE AND DONE YEAR (WHAT A JOKE)..

and thats a starting PF for a long time to come in the NBA..

Even Coach Cal could've handled the situation better for Skal specifically. if he did whats best for his team - I wouldn't know, they certainly didn't win the chip thats all we know for sure.

Not necessarily comparing them as players, more situation. Both top prospects who couldn't produce their freshman seasons.

Their minutes were limited for very different reasons though. Skal was seen as a diva who didn't have the proper work ethic and was soft.

Giles limited minutes, and the factions that had a hand in calling for those restrictions are also a mysterious subject, even more than what happend with Skal.

If ya listed to Coach Cal, what happened with Skal was much more of a transparent type of airing out of grievances for the public to see.. and for the most part NBA teams must've bought it, I guess thats part of the reason why he fell.. He was the scapegoat..

Guys - let me introduce you to the guy we NEED TO GO AND GET.

Favors is ailing. Trey Lyles is fading. Let's go get...

Take a gander at this mix! footage was scarce of him during the season this is a few days old. Chris Mullin compared him to Marcus Camby.

PG_AB kinda sold me on Chimezie Metu. I wish he'd enter the draft. I like him better than Skal, and I liked Skal last year at #12.

If OG Anunoby falls, I'm on board (pending medical clearance). Ike Anigbogu doesn't have to do much to have an impact in the league. He can just stay healthy and be a rich man's Festus Ezeli worst case.

I'm okay with Leaf/Lydon, Kennard, DJ Wilson (who I think might be a more athletic and fluid Trey Lyles, which says what I don't know), and one of these athletic 6'4" 2-guards who can shoot in the 2nd round.
