What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Yep, that's another thing - they are reportedly targeting Josh Jackson at 3. That's Brown, Crowder and Jackson at the 3. I'm not sure it means much, because some of those might be traded, but...

I take back what I said about it being good news.

Now there is talk that Ainge is trying to acquire more picks and free up cap space to go after Butler and Hayward. If that's the case, I hope he ****s it up by getting too greedy.

Yeah, if they get Butler, it makes Boston a more attractive destination :(

So if the rumors are true, Boston trades #1 to Philly for #3 and a future first. Boston then trades two future firsts and a player for Butler. Boston loses out on Fultz, but drafts Jackson/Tatum, trades for Butler and clears space for Hayward.

Result: IT / Butler / Hayward / Crowder / Horford with Tatum off the bench. They still can't rebound though.

Sounds like the trade is pretty much a done deal. However, if I'm Chicago, I think I would have insisted on Fultz. You never know about those future picks.

Chicago's GMs are not very bright, and for whatever reason, they want to move on from Butler. I thought the Jazz might actually be able to trade for him.

The rumor is the 3rd pick this year, the Lakers 2018 unprotected pick, and a future Sixers pick.

I'd take that for Fultz. I'd also rather have the Lakers 2018 unprotected pick and the 2018 Brooklyn pick over Fultz if I'm the Bulls for Butler.

The Bulls could be the first team ever to have the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall pick in a draft.

That's the thing, If Boston gets Butler, why the Hell do they need Hayward? They need a center, and they would be rolling. You could get Dewayne Dedmon and Aron Baynes to back him up for less than what you will be paying Hayward. Now Boston is a legit defensive force while being able to cover for IT.

Ainge and Celtics fans will regret this trade forever if it's done. Mark it down. However if they trade for Butler it is great news for us. They will no longer have the ability to sign Hayward because their cap room will be gone.

Why do you need to sign Hayward when you can get Dedmon and Baynes? Is that a serious comment?

Individually Hayward is better, but you already have Jimmy freakin' Butler, and nobody that can rebound or even pretend to protect the rim. It's like having two gold toilets and a broken showerhead in the same bathroom.

What are you going to do with Hayward in that offense? Turn him into a spot up shooter on the perimeter? That is where he would slot most of the time, at least with the starters.

Did you watch the Warriors this year? Have you seen the Celtics offense?

You really just havent watched basketball in the last 6 years have you?

Also, Hayward can kiss any chance at possible all-NBA accolades away playing next to Butler. It will be difficult to get there anyway, but impossible in that situation.

And that is the role that you would be shoving Hayward into.

And maybe Hayward is OK with that in order to get a little farther in the playoffs.

If he cares about his career and who he is as a player, I'd think he might not like the idea of watching IT play hero ball and then fighting for scraps between him and Butler.

Hard to say exactly how it would work out, but it's a legitimate concern.
