What's new

Hayward reportedly torn ..

DL sending mixed signals on the pg situation.

He is actively looking for a pg, he drafts some combo guards and talks up how Exum is going to be 'tremendous'.

I guess he is just giving Quin a bunch of contingencies ..... (But would love to really know what he thinks)...

I don't see that as mixed signals. I see that as trying to get the best PG rotation possible. PG was a problem this year.

Calling it now.

Jazz get Beverly and then re-sign Hayward, Hill and Ingles.

Boston strikes out.

Jazz are the only one to improve.

Mack and Neto won't be on the team this season IMO. Neither will Withey.

Gobert/Bradley
Favors/Bolomboy/Diaw
Hayward/Ingles/JJ
Hood/Mitchell/Burks
Hill/Beverly/Exum

No set rotations. Just a players list. Jazz D, toughness, rebounding, shooting and PG rotation play all improve.

2nd seed and WCFs.

1-4:

Warriors
Jazz
Spurs (if the land CP3)
Rockets.
In your scenario I highly doubt Diaw, or Burks are still on the team. Just can't see those contracts remaining on the team with paying what you need to keep Hill and Hayward.

AllllRiiiiiight... my final thoughts on Gordo and I'm checking out. Gone through my stages of grief and am officially at acceptance.

Gordo... if you decide to leave that's cool enjoy, but realize you ain't KD and you ain't joining the 73 win warriors... fail and you will catch grief and pain times two... you are joining what could be the 3rd best team in the league... sweet, but that is failure based on what you are doing and there are some serious ifs there... if IT is healthy (he's not... this deferred hip decision is dumb and clearly he's delaying the surgery until after free agency)... if number 2 if they can get PG.... if they can clear max space. There are some serious ifs there.

So if they put it together they will have a good team... you will be hot **** for 6-12 weeks, but the shine will wear off and when you don't win a title you will be just another failure and they will look for an upgrade. Maybe give Deron a call before you leave and see how he's doing. You guys are different, but both have non-superstar personalities... a little aloof, a little mercurial, a little lonerish, but you will struggle just like him in the increased spot light and your name will end up in trade rumors. Take Jae Crowder 2 years ago... they loved him... now all I hear is negativity and they cheer for a guy from another team they MIGHT get.

Gordo - Boston is the hot secretary in your office... you think she's perfect and that your wife nags too much... leave the wife for her and you will find all her flaws too...

Speaking of that... what are you leaving? You are leaving an organization that put their trust in you and worked for 7 god damn years to help you become what you are and put you in a position to succeed. Their have been bumps in the road and you have obviously worked your *** off to get here but its been a successful, not perfect, partnership. We are in just as good of a position to be the third best team in the league as Boston and have a chance to wait out the current nba powerhouse if we are patience. Ahhhhh yes patience....

I know we may have been too patient with the rebuild for you... we were too patient with Ty Corbin, but don't you want patience... didn't you need patience with your development. Yes you were once a boy playing in a man's league with the star player trying to decapitate you with passes and getting straight punked by Carmelo Anthony... did we panic? What if we had? Would you have become the player you are? maybe you would, but the roads of the NBA are littered with guys who are talented but didn't find the right environments and right help.

Its that same patience that has had us stick by AB, Favs, Exum in their struggles... you think we wouldn't stick by you in your struggles?

You've got a good coach, good management, good environment for your family, good teammates, and a fanbase that ****ing loves you... We funded a damn billboard for hells sakes. You want to throw that away for what could be a lateral move... then fine. You want a BIG MARKET to be a super duper star.... fine. When the shine wears off and those fanbases that aren't emotionally invested in you decided that maybe they could trade you for a top 10 pick and sign someone else because you'll never get them to a championship... then go... get the **** out... we will find someone else who appreciates what we can offer.

Stay and we will support you thick and thin... we will gradually add and become a team that has a just as good of a chance as Boston does. You helped build this, let us continue to build around you, finish this project and win or lose you are a champion and will forever be appreciated in this state by a fanbase that is just as passionate as the one in Boston.

Let's ****ing do this Gordo!

They can actually.

Now Diaw is on a team option so they could drop him but they'd need to bring in another big as that would drop the Jazz to 4 total between the 4 and 5.

As for Burks, rumors are the Jazz are keeping him and at least hoping to rehab his value.

So if one leaves it'll be Diaw IMO.

Hayward will stay. I'm 100% convinced after the draft. I always thought he would stay, but for a few weeks before the draft I was nervous. Now I'm not. Ainge isn't relinquishing his death grip on Boston's future picks or gutting his roster to trade for another star player. And that was the only way I could see them pulling Hayward away. I'm hyped for the future that we have!!

Does anybody pause at the idea of giving Hill and Hayward a combined $50 million this summer? Thats over half our cap number with it now being $99 million.

I like them both, but really think about those numbers for a little bit. I want to keep Hayward, but signing Hill to make Hayward stay can bite us in the ***.

I think Hill at $18+ will feel like a Ryan Anderson, Luol Deng, Noah or Brandon Knight salary anchor deal sooner rather than later.

I'm with you. Neither Hill nor Hayward are worth that. Qualifier: Hayward and Hill are a good players -- just not that $$ good. For the right price, sure. But it won't be a good price. So....

Hayward's torn?? Wah, I've been torn with my jazz fandom ever since KOC drafted Hayward. I have a really hard time drinking the Hayward hype-propaganda. He's good, sure. He's maybe a second best player on a competitive team, but probably more of a third best. Jazz have won games without him and lost some with him. He doesnt really move the meter one way or the other. He's not a go-to scorer when we need it. Jazz should reserve the big $ for a player who can be clutch when we need it. We might not have said player on the team yet, but that's no reason to surrender the keys to Hayward.
All I can say is I'm so glad Gobert is on this team or my fandom would be plunged into total despondency.

Sorry to interrupt the bellyaching. Carry on. #goawayward

I swear, this talk of Hayward only being 3rd option on a contender will never end.
