Rubio traded to Jazz

It's Rubio for Hill. Mack was gone either way, but with this trade there's no way the Jazz bring back Hill. That would be far too much money locked up in the PG position

Assuming they dont make another trade. Its unlikely but they could package Rubio if they got a guarantee from Hill. They could also package Hood and start both Rubio and Hill. Both less likely options but still a possibility. Or they could re-sign Hill and trade him later.

POTY right ****ing here. I'm sold. Buh bye Hill.

And fwiw, Rubio is a better defender, better passer, has a better A:T ratio, is a better rebounder, gets far more steals, is a better free throw shooter, gets to the line more, is four years younger than Hill, and costs approximately 5M or so less than what we expected Hill to get.

Does he suck at finishing and three point shooting? Sure. But with great coaching, based on his 89% from the line last year, I definitely think he can improve ala Kidd.

Let's not bash on Hill tho. Hill gave us some great moments and is a solid player deserving a huge deal.

They very well may not bring back Hill, but I don't think that's a given by any means. If they can re-sign Hill for a reasonable deal, they'd have until the trade deadline to flip him or Rubio.

The reason I don't think that's automatic is because Hill is the only player of that caliber we can sign, since we have his bird rights. For all we know, Hill may already be out of the picture, but it may also be a case of that was DL's best opportunity to use up that cap space to gain an asset.

Not a fan of losing his poise and leadership. We still have JJ for that but is there anyone out there with similar leadership who could be a stretch 4 and be had for partial or full MLE? Assuming PP costs more than that, anyone else?

Would you guys re-sign Ingles at 4/55 or Hill at 4/65 now? Go.
Close call for me. I probably take hill for on the court production but I love ingles personality and versatility.

I can't decide.

I have heard that hills toe is ****ed so ingles I guess.

This is right. A year from now, the Jazz are going to struggle to afford both Hood and Exum, plus whatever the power forward of the future solution is going to be, even while dealing Favors, Burks, and Diaw. Ricky's lower salary is important. Equally important is that next year he'll be an expiring and will have increased trade value as a result. If either of them blow up this year, the Jazz can afford to match their salaries in UFA and can deal Rubio at the 2018-19 trade deadline. That wouldn't be an option with George Hill on a 4 year deal.

Remember, Tony Jones has been reporting for a while that the money wasn't the issue so much as the number of years. I'm betting that a lot of that has to do with Hood and Exum coming up on a contract year and the Jazz being willing to venture into the luxury tax to keep the majority of the team together, but not pay the repeater tax.

I mean, we'd still have Hood and Mitchell and Exum and Hill and even Hayward to play the 2.
And Hayward and Hood and Johnson can all play the 3.

I love Ingles and would miss him but I can't help but wonder if it was a lightning in a bottle contract year for him last season.
Good post.
I'm not sold on ingles ability either. I'm probably just bias cause of his look and lack of flash/athleticism which I always overrate.

I think they could still get hill. Hell they could trade rubio iirc. Nothing is set in stone until the ink dries.

DL in the orgy going in and Ainge is in the corner still trying to get it up.
Good one..... can never top your other one though lololol. I should have put it in my sig

For what it's worth, Tony Jones has been repeating all day that Hill is gone. Denver and Spurs his major suitors.

Hills gone fellas yall haven't figured that out

we've added 4 players this offseason, 3 are point guards.

I really like George Hill, but he really dug his own grave (assuming he wanted to stay on the Jazz), he should've just accepted the offer the Jazz gave him earlier...greed usually leads to bad decision making.

Spurs are going to get Hill for pennies and I'm going to be pissed. I really hope a 2nd team charges the price up.
