What's new

Game nr. 11 Utah Jazz vs Philadelphia 76ers, November 7th, 7pm MT.

The Jazz need a guy like Dario Saric, preferably a better version of that kind of player, but I'd at least start with Dario Saric.

Clearly you don't understand advance stats. Next you will be arguing that 11 rebound advantage by the team with no center actually had an impact on the game. Sad.
Advanced stats show that the Jazz lost by 7 and the starting power forward scored 5 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.

But didn't he look great camped out in the corner shooting threes?

Now if we could only figure out why a team with no center out rebounded the jazz by double digits....

Because we shoot 29%. More available rebounds for Philly

He had 2 rebounds. 2.

He does give up on the ones easy ones for Gobert to grab all the time. He also is the most consistent person on our team at blocking out. If you block out and clear space someone else will be in position to grab the rebound. I wish Gobert would do the same, if he did that and Snyder let Favors crash the offensive boards we would be one of the best rebounding teams.

edit.
Both Favors and Gobert did get beat out for rebound they should have got this game though. It was disappointing since they had a huge size advantage. I am more frustrated with Gobert on that front since he rarely puts a body on his guy.

Are you people really this stupid?

Again, rebounding percentage is the stat you look at to determine who won the rebounding battle, especially when there is a huge discrepancy in the totals of shots made and attempted.

unlike quite a few of our guys Derrick is happy to put a body on opposing players instead of standing flatfooted looking at the ball on the rim. This allows Rudy to get the boards instead of Favors

And Gobert had 15....

Focusing way too much on raw rebounding stats. Is Favors not boxing out? Is Favors letting his man get offensive rebounds? If he is just letting Gobert grab them all, then what's the deal? The Jazz had a 79.5% defensive rebounding rate tonight, which would be good for 7th overall in the NBA when compared to season average stats.
Rebounds show effort. He isn't giving enough effort. Especially when the team can't score he is supposed to step up. He isn't doing anything. If anything it hurts the team when he's on the floor.

watched about 5 minutes of the game cause of work, had a look at the box scores, that field goal percentage is horrible.

Oh. He boxes out then the ball always bounces to Rudy. Got it.

Favors will always be called lazy, because he isnt loud and emotional. He works hard every game and does a lot of the little things, despite getting very few touches besides the quick top of the key touch and pass right back to a guard.

He is struggling at times to fit in on this team but so is everyone of our starters. Including Gobert.

Rebounds show who is by the rim when a shot goes up. A large majority of rebounds in the NBA are uncontested rebounds. Guys like Drummond, Jordan, and Gobert are leading rebounders by and large because their teammates willingly concede those rebounds to them.

Funny you say that cause there are countless times where I see Favors not hustle, box out, jump, go for a board and it ends up being costly. I think he plays ok half the time. The other half, the dude takes his foot off the gas like he can't breathe.
