Does the Jazz team have to give 15-25Millions for a backup center?
I think not, especially with Udoh.

Don't use logic here. Everyone knows money grows on trees and the salary cap is 500 billion. Sign everyone!

I have been hard on Favors. However, I see a role for him with us for the next 3-4 years. We could keep him, but I think it has to be under these 2 conditions:

#1 - he makes $10 or less a year. Maybe we could front load a contract like Ingles so it declines while Gobert and others go up.
#2 - he isn't a guaranteed starter. He would start some games due to the matchup and some games when we need to rest Gobert.
I know favors has made a lot of money in his career, but why would he sign for less than $10 per year? He couldn't even go to McDonald's with his kids for that. He got a family to feed.

At 15-25 million, no way. At 10-12 million, sign me up.

Im not a favors hater by any means. Im a huge fans but it appears that favors next to gobert still isn't ideal. I think favors would make a great starting 5.

Does plus minus include defense? Cause Favs and Gobert together has been crazy good lately. And I'm not sure Udoh would have the same affect.

I mean those stats are a little skewed. Crowder has played during our win streak and easier part of our schedule over Favors.

But Crowder and Gobert have been good together on the court. Personally I like Crowder better at the 3. I think he can play the 4 and matches up well sometimes but not always and his strengths of being a strong bully type player are diminished at the 4 more than the 3.

But Gobert and Favors have been positive together on the court this season despite our struggles early. Gobert and Favors on the court together post all-star are +9 net rating.

You can make the argument of Gobert and Crowder being better based on those stats but then you would also have to agree that Neto is better with Gobert than Rubio or Mitchell. Since they have put up big numbers in the same ratings.

I am a big fan of keeping Favors he works hard and sacrifices a lot to make the team better. Assuming he wil re sign for a decent deal we should jump on that and not look back. If not I think we should look to make an offer to Gordon or Parker for below max but a decent offer. Those guys have great potential but if not I am fine rolling with who we have. I think we can make it work with Crowder and company but it will be a step down if we lose Favors.

Side note Exum and Gobert are +50 net rating this season in their 2 min together.

The real big positive to me is that when Gobert and Mitchell play together we are +19.1! That is amazing and bodes well for our future with those two! They are 109 on offense and 90 on defense.

I wouldn’t mind keeping favors but we can likely get more bang for our buck playing Jonas and Crowder there. If the net result is basically the same why pay Favs.

If Favs finds the market sucks I’d give him a nice one year deal but don’t want to go long term there. I still worry that he may have health/injury issues... it’s just the way he runs and his overall body weight may not age well.

Either way I will always be a favors fan.

I’d like to see what a comparison of these numbers look like from the beginning of the season (when Rubio/Mitchell were trying to figure out how to play together) and how they’ve looked since Gobert came back from injury.

I just feel like they’ve been clicking since that point and this is the second time that the Jazz have looked amazing while they’ve been healthy and on the court together (end of 2014/15 season as well).

I also wonder how much Hood and Johnson playing significant roles vs. Crowder and O’Neale impacts those numbers. This roster just seems to fit a LOT better now than they did at the beginning of the season.

And they’re winning together. That can’t be understated.

Great point about crowder joining the team while we are hot and playing a weaker schedule.
